Does anyone have misophonia?

I’ve heard it called a number of things, linked to autism, hyperacusis, etc.

I have it. I hate the sound of people, some in particular, eating - not just how everyone hates nails down a blackboard kind of thing - but like a phobia, but instead of extreme fear I have extreme anger.

I will not entertain the idea of being in the same building as the person who triggers me the most - it’s had a huge impact on my life and has gotten increasingly worse.

There are a few other sounds too. But eating is the main one. Does anyone else have it?

Yes me. Ever since I was a young child. I was a worse then, but can mask it a bit better now with coping strategies. Triggers for me include; any eating sounds, lip smacking, audible swallowing/gulping, slurping drinks, people licking their fingers (this is 10/10 rage), sniffing, snorting, people talking on the phone on public transport, rustling packets, any sounds from my neighbours, snoring (also 10/10 rage), chavvy groups of obnoxious men talking as loud as physically possible, people clearing their throats constantly, any tinny sounding music, etc etc

Yes, it's real. I'm 99.99999% sure I have it. It's really annoying and stressful at times.

Can’t bear any type of eating noise. My dc’s seems
to have inherited the intolerance. They leave the room if they hear any loud crunchy eating noises. My ex H had a relative who had loose dentures and I could never sit in a room with them when they ate, it was intolerable.
Theres a dr who sometimes comes on Radio 2 to give advice and their mouth makes awful sticky dry smacky noises when they talk. I have to switch the radio off when they come on.
Recently I heard a sports reporter on the radio and they took huge big gulps of air every few words. I was driving and realised I was gripping the steering wheel so hard it began to hurt. Switched the radio off and felt irrationally angry for ages after it.
A work colleague eats with their mouth open, I have taken to going walks at lunchtime just so I don’t have to sit and listen to the smacking wet noise.

I've never been officially diagnosed but I do think that I have it.
I have always hated people making noises when eating or biting nails etc.
The sound of a tv or music through a wall makes my heart pound, I can't ignore it. Luckily we have nice quiet neighbours.
A few years ago I couldn't bear the noise of a neighbour's dog barking even though it didn't bark often or for long. Secondary glazing sorted that one out.
I cope by using Alpine Sleepsoft earplugs, they allow you to hear but they filter out loud noise. I've tried lots of earplugs but I find them the best.
It's a nuisance but at least I understand it and have learned how to cope.
