Ironically?

As a frumpy middle aged mum?

(I would link for those not familiar, but don’t particularly want to promote the kind of publications writing about it).

OP posts:
METR0NOMY · 01/05/2025 15:30

Is there a specific look for people who are gender critical.

WallaceinAnderland · 01/05/2025 15:39

If you actually look at what's on the hashtag OP, you wouldn't do it.

JeremiahBullfrog · 01/05/2025 15:51

Can you get a tiny one for a Barbie?

CautiousLurker01 · 01/05/2025 15:51

EasterIs · 01/05/2025 14:57

Well if someone like me wore one, it would clearly be ironic, trust me 😂

Am not being disingenuous, but I can’t see how it would be perceived as being worn ironically? Even if a 7ft rugby prop male wore it, I still wouldn’t assume irony as I would just infer he was a trans ally?

I’m a middle aged woman… if I wore it, it would be assumed that I am wearing a weird logo-ed T-shirt and possibly a bit unhinged (because 90% of those in my town would not have a clue as to it’s meaning) or that I am a fully blown trans activist (so I’d get unwanted attention from the other 10%).

SpidersAreShitheads · 01/05/2025 16:08

As a fellow middle-aged woman, no, I wouldn't read that as irony.

I have friends of the same age who are fully on board with the ideology and we've had to agree to disagree on this subject.

Handmaidens come in all shapes and sizes - no question it would be seen as support. As a PP suggested, wear an "I love JKR" shirt or "Adult Human Female" one instead.

Nope, people would think you were being "kind"(tm) and signaling that you think other women should do the same.

OnyourbarksGSG · 01/05/2025 16:13

I would 100% wear a protect the dolls tshirt but with an image of a traditional 70s style blow up dolls face on it. Cos that’s what these “dolls” aspire to be and think women are and that’s what they model themselves on. Caricature sex toys to be used and discarded.

Shadowsunray · 01/05/2025 16:13

Bad idea. No one will know it's meant to be ironic.

ghostyslovesheets · 01/05/2025 16:15

Funny that dolls are plastic parodies of women and girls

SunsetCocktails · 01/05/2025 16:18

Try a New York Dolls t shirt instead.

Blueskies25 · 01/05/2025 16:19

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 01/05/2025 14:48

How is anyone going to know that you are wearing it ironically rather than being a handmaiden?

Exactly, I wouldn’t wear it, you will look like a supporter,

VickyEadieofThigh · 01/05/2025 16:20

ghostyslovesheets · 01/05/2025 16:15

ISN'T it ironic? And of course, they just don't see it.

Blueskies25 · 01/05/2025 16:20

EasterIs · 01/05/2025 14:57

Well if someone like me wore one, it would clearly be ironic, trust me 😂

But you will look like a supporter

RickyBobbysKFC · 01/05/2025 16:23

Get one made that says ‘protect the trolls’

Coffeeishot · 01/05/2025 16:23

It's honestly only "ironic" in your head I don't know why you think it would be hilarious ?

TheNightingalesStarling · 01/05/2025 16:24

To wear it ironically, you have to purchase one and therefore promote it.

EdgyUmberCrab · 01/05/2025 16:25

I’ve literally no idea what you’re talking about so it would be completely lost on me.

pizzaHeart · 01/05/2025 16:26

Oddsocksanduglyshoes · 01/05/2025 15:01

To be honest I think a lot of people would have no idea what it means

I don’t know what it is about ( I’m not asking for clarification by the way)
However I usually think that you are a bit weird if you are wearing a t-shirt with an odd slogan.

Dontcallmescarface · 01/05/2025 16:37

"Dolls are only used for 'let's pretend' games", would be a better slogan IMHO.

Edit as hit post too soon

Valhalla17 · 01/05/2025 16:39

Maybe we need a "protect the real dolls" tee

Petty I know...

NicolaSturgeon · 01/05/2025 16:39

I would totes wear that. Just saying.

Helleofabore · 01/05/2025 16:42

Do the general public even know what it refers to OP?

Mind you, if they now look on twitter they will see a string of tweets that will show them just what it all means. I suspect it will be an experience that will never be forgotten.

Helleofabore · 01/05/2025 16:43

NicolaSturgeon · 01/05/2025 16:39

Well, yes Nicola… we know!

scorpiogirly · 01/05/2025 16:43

I think anyone with a pulse would be unreasonable to wear it.

RampantIvy · 01/05/2025 16:43

KimberleyClark · 01/05/2025 15:05

This. It would be lost on me.

And me.
