Stil not sure who I'm going to vote for
Most people I've talked to are voting tactically ,and not going with who they really want to vote for
I'm usually green ,so most probably will go with that
But be good to hear why people vote for who they do

Only local council elections here and I voted Lib Dem. They are my preferred party of choice both locally and nationally.

We’ve got Mayor and council. I shall be voting Labour. I can’t stand what they’ve done to the disabled over PIP but the Tories and Reform have both said the cuts don’t go far enough. Reform, also, plan to get rid of the Equality Act, should they ever get into to government which would be catastrophic for disabled people.

Our Labour mayor has a proven track record, whereas our Tory candidate is a failed MP and the Reform candidate says Andrew Tate fills a void for young men.

FPTP Yes. Mayoral too (were 2nd pref in past).

Edited

Thanks @boys3. Ours is STV, which I prefer, although the count takes much longer.🙈

I was completely unprepared and wasn't going to vote, as we only moved to the area recently and as it's local elections I kind of felt like I didn't deserve a say yet (silly, I know). Then DS1 mentioned it and he hasn't been able to vote yet (missed the GE by days, he was gutted) so I quickly looked up a few of the candidates and walked up with him to vote.
Threw me a bit when I got 2 papers as they did Parish council too and there were 5 candidates and we got 4 picks! Felt mean for the one I didn't pick...
Local council we got 2 picks, so I just picked the two Labour candidates, our local council lost its Labour majority in 2021 for the first time in 100 years. I moved from an area that has been Tory for ever, so it was nice to be able to vote Labour and know they'll probably get the seats.

No local elections in London till 2026. I’ll be voting Reform next year. Previously voted for both, Labour and Conservatives. Totally disillusioned. I want two party system to be destroyed. If it has to be by voting for Reform, so be it.

Waynettaaa · 02/05/2025 01:23

No one, as the bastards cancelled ours 😡

celticnations · 02/05/2025 11:04

As an aside, our Holyrood election next year will be equally interesting as your local elections.

I suspect that the SNP will return a First Minister as:

  1. SNP a fair way ahead in polls.
  2. Reform will split Unionist vote 'twixt Labour, Cons & Lib Dems.

It's looking like a straight fight between Labour and Reform here, so voting Labour is a no-brainer for me. I actually know the candidate and don't like her very much, but needs must! None of the other parties are serious contenders right now.

Runcorn?
How are you feeling today?

I’ve just spoken to my friend who lives in Runcorn and voted yesterday. She is very upset at the result and angry too. She is a Labour voter but feels let down by the current government despite being delighted when they gained power. Luckily her house is on the market as they need to downsize so she won’t be living there much longer!

cheezncrackers · 02/05/2025 12:35

I voted LD, because our local LD counsellor has always been great and I like his emails. He's got a sense of humour, he's hard-working, he cares about this area and he lives here.

He's very visible - I see him shopping in Sainsbury's, wandering around the local area talking to people, etc. I have no idea who the other names on the ballot were - I've never met them, never received so much as a flyer from them, let alone know them on sight. I can email my LD guy and he answers! It was a no-brainer for me.

Gundogday · 02/05/2025 12:55

Planned to vote for candidate A as proved good locally. However, due to boundary changes, A was no longer on my ballot sheet! Went for candidate B who lives locally rather than someone living further away, from one of the main parties (not Reform).

No, just council elections for us. And I'm feeling relieved that the Reform idiot lost in our ward, though obviously concerned about the wider results elsewhere.
