Strangest thing you've had stolen from you?

Am really annoyed that someone has probably stolen the center cap off my car wheel , have looked on Ebay for a replacement, none fit, contact the main dealer - £50 to replace. £50! Dealer has assured me there is NO OTHER COMPATIBLE wheel cap, so will likely just suck it up and pay which is the last thing we need this month.

What other weird things have people had stolen? (Call me naïve but I thought the world had moved on from stealing other peoples things!)

Parked my car under a bridge to go clubbing. Stupidly left coats in foot well to avoid cloakroom fees. Got back and window was smashed. The only thing they'd taken was a can of tango. A few months later I got an email from the police with pictures of stolen items staying to look through to see if I recognised anything I'd lost. Devastatingly the can was not there.

Oh no! My sisters friend had her back windscreen smashed and they just nicked a packet of sweets off the parcel shelf.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 29/04/2025 13:48

Years ago someone broke into my parents’ car and stole the packed lunch from the coolbox. Their expensive video equipment wasn’t taken.

Stormyinacoffeemug · 29/04/2025 13:48

An old sweet tin (empty) with a batman logo on. Only cost 99p.

My full size (empty) recycle bin from my front garden. These are provided free from the council.

WomenInSTEM · 29/04/2025 13:50

When I lived in a house share a housemate had a friend stay over. He stole my 'Hug me, I'm drinking Labbatts Ice' t-shirt.

I was very very pissed off.

When I moved into my house I ordered a complete set of free council bins (4 bins). I had to order nearly all of them a second time as the first lot were pinched. People are so fucking lazy and selfish.

A rugby ball shaped stress ball with the local rugby club logo on it was stolen off my desk at work. I still miss it.

bringbackthespira · 29/04/2025 13:52

from work, a dental surgery, huge amount of mess, broken windows only to find they stole 2 tins of tuna and some hot cross buns
nothing else was touched.

Harrriet · 29/04/2025 13:54

My action girl dolls head...I know it was you Eileen 🤨

blackpear · 29/04/2025 13:56

My bluebell room scent from the National Trust was stolen from my office a decade ago. It still pisses me off when I think of it, especially as they stopped making it.

I've remembered another!! This one is quite outing cos I was so outraged I told everyone.
The car in front of me in the drive thru stole my McDonalds. I had loads of the kids friends staying and had gone to get a huge order, we're talking £80 worth of maccies ... I joked to DD who was in the car with me 'imagine if they gave our order to the car infront and we got a sweaty cheeseburger or fillet of fish'
We got to the window and were handed a bag containing ... you guessed it, a sweaty cheeseburger, no fillet of fish tho.

The car in front had taken all our food and drinks, whe the girl had said thru the wi dow that there were no smartie mcflurries, the thief just quick as you like said she'd have malteaser instead and then drove off bold as brass.
The poor girl at the window was in tears she was so upset.
There was so much food, they must have had to throw it away as there was only 2 of them in the car.
Cheeky fuckers!!!

A plant from the front garden (in a previous house)! It was in a lovely area too, and the street was not a thoroughfare.

How did they possibly managed to nick the curtains from the GP surgery?😺

They were in the patients toilet. Someone had just gone in, taken them down and stolen them..

SapporoBaby · 29/04/2025 14:09

Someone punched out the window of the ancient banger my friend had and stole his elderly (must have been 20 years old) radio and my half used perfume from the glove compartment

Bleachbum · 29/04/2025 14:17

Someone broke into my car and stole my old, crappy prescription sunglasses that I only use for driving but left my Raybans that were in their box in the glove compartment! They also took my £1 trolley coin 😡

My old flat was an unusual set up in that our small block had been built on the plot of an old house. There were 4 flats in the block, two upstairs and two downstairs. I had the downstairs rear flat where the front door was accessed by going down the side driveway and then was around where a back door would have been when there was a house there.

I had a small patch of garden under my living room window where I'd ripped out the massive overgrown shrub and had put some concrete pots with various plants in for the summer. Came home from work one day and discovered one of the smallest ones had disappeared! They couldn't be seen from the road, so I was most perturbed that someone had walked round and pinched it! Assumed I'd eventually lose more but no, just that one! Perhaps they liked the geraniums!

Not as amusing as others posted on here. Whole paths??

@Newdress93 have a look here - https://www.asm-autos.co.uk/used-car-parts/ - they're a massive car scrap yard near me. They have literal piles of cars, many of which look far too good to be scrap!

An Amazon package off my doorstep. Wowsers, that happens alot round here BUT due to various thefts in the area and having had a couple nicked before I filled a box up with very rotten compost & kitchen waste, sealed it up & left on doorstep. It got nicked.

mylurcheristhebest · 29/04/2025 14:37

Someone once stole all of my ex partners clothes off the washing line but left mine.

Also had a patio stolen, it was there when we went to view the property and when we came to move in a few weeks later it was gone.

Emmz1510 · 29/04/2025 14:39

It’s not happened to me personally but I’m always amazed at the number of fairly regular emails about peoples lunches being nicked at my work! It’s a large but normal office with normal (I thought!) mostly middle aged people and I can’t wrap my head around who does that!

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 29/04/2025 14:40

Had all my pillow cases stolen... apparently it's quite common during house burglaries. They use them to carry stuff. But I was miffed.

seashaken · 29/04/2025 14:46

Someone once came into our enclosed porch and took all our muddy boots.

SnuffleTruffleHound · 29/04/2025 14:49

This is years ago!
i had a mr blobby car figure (a soft toy with suckers on each arm/leg) he lived in my back window (not restricting view)
my car was broken into and that's all that went.

OliveWah · 29/04/2025 14:51

I drive a 20 year old BMW, and was parked outside a restaurant in Malvern a few years ago. When we came back to the car after dinner, someone had stolen the BMW badge off the front of the bonnet - bizarre!

When I was about 18, I hosted a house party and at one stage a group of us were talking about our last day of senior school and the leavers shirts we had all signed and decorated, so I got mine out to show people. You guessed it, the next morning when I was tidying up and looked for the shirt - it was gone!

We had a stepped path which came down past the front of our house, and was used by the 2 houses next door to access their front doors at our old house. We bought solar powered lights which we stuck in the ground next to the steps to stop people missing them in the dark, but they were stolen. We replaced them, and they were stolen again!

ItGhoul · 29/04/2025 14:52

I was trying on a pair of shoes in a shop and while I was doing that, someone stole one of my old shoes. Not both. Just the one.

The only explanations I can think of are a kid playing a stupid prank, or someone with a fetish who likes sniffing old shoes.

Jollyhockeystickss · 29/04/2025 14:54

I went for a massage and took my chunky necklace off and when I got home I realised so I text her and she denied it it was a lovely hippy necklace and she was a hippy so she kept it and denied it!!
