to think marathons in cities cause too much mayhem?

There is a full marathon in my city on Sunday. They will start to close the roads 5pm on Saturday and it is impossible to drive anywhere.

My neighbour is immobile and relies on carers. All his visits are severely delayed and it means he ends up sitting in his faeces and urine for hours and hours. He won't get his meals till a lot later. There is access given for carers, emergency services but this still ends up in a lot of delays.

I know it brings in a huge amount of income for the city but the disruption is terrible particularly for those who are vulnerable. It means I don't get to visit people in need because I can't drive anywhere. Public transport doesn't work as I often have a lot of shopping etc.

If you're talking about Manchester OP I agree. We're near the route and it means being heavily restricted on the day. It also means that NHS community teams struggle to visit vulnerable patients. And lots of people can't get to church etc. It's also two days a year as same happens for the half marathon. On top of that the amount of litter and plastic waste is horrifying.

Yes the road was closed when the actual running/walking over… just to clear the enormous amount of litter spread all over the road.

Wow. You have an unusual amount of marathon running friends. Spending all day waving at them is quite the commitment.

Is there lots to do, in Sale, at 5pm, on a Sunday?

Maybe so, but we had a lovely day. Friends came round and we tracked our several marathon running friends and went out to cheer them on then had a bbq in the sunshine. Not that unusual to know several people running a local marathon - unless you don’t have many friends I guess…

That's nice for you. I'm sure the disabled people left sitting in their own waste will be please you had a gay old time.
