Report this women or mind my own business?

There's a woman I follow on tiktok that takes Mounjaro. I also take mounjaro so that's probably why she came up on my feed.

She is very, very thin and it is obvious she has an eating disorder (she actually says she has and has relapsed). She says she is 7 stone 10 and her goal weight is 7 stone, but she is pretty tall (5'10?). I think she looks even thinner than that tbh. She posted a couple months ago saying that she was banned from mounjaro after her GP contacted the supplier. She was asking for suppliers that don't ask for video calls or contact the GP and she managed to find one. She was able to get a few months supply before getting banned again and is now looking for another supplier. She's posted today about side effects and feeling really exhausted etc.

I feel like I have a moral responsibility to report her to her new supplier because she's pushing herself into the grave. But 90% of me is saying i should just mind my own business. I worry about the future of mounjaro if underweight people with ED's are able to obtain it and then become serioiusly ill from it.

YABU = mind your own business
YANBU = report her

I would mind my own business, if she wants to kill herself, let her crack on

Dotjones · 25/04/2025 10:01

You should mind your own business, you have no responsibility to or power over her. She's not doing anything illegal (I think - buying prescription drugs isn't illegal in itself unless they are proscibed substances like morphine). People are allowed freedom to make bad choices - if this wasn't the case most forms of employment would be banned, because work drives many people into an early grave.

TheCountofMountingCrispBags · 25/04/2025 10:01

Why do you have a moral responsibility towards her? Do you feel the same way about drug addicts or alcoholics you randomly encounter? Do you feel you should resport them to someone because they too, are killing themselves?Somehow I doubt it.

It is being fraudulently obtained, though.

Maybe pm messsge to her directly ? Even if you cut off her supplies she us still actively anorexic so can get supplies on black market

maybe it’s best she gets it from a safe place rather than fake supplier ??

Ddakji · 25/04/2025 10:06

You can message the supplier with a link to her TikTok - up to them what they do about it.

I don’t see any issue with you doing that.

Feelthesunswarmth · 25/04/2025 10:11

She must have mental health issues.

It's hard enough dealing with family and friends who have mental health issues so to take on a role of responsibility for a stranger on social media is foolhardy.

If she is doing something illegal and you feel strongly about this then report her to the relevant people/ authority if you chose. Then step back.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 25/04/2025 10:38

She is not your friend. She is a total stranger. Stay out of her business - no good will come of meddling.

SwanRivers · 25/04/2025 10:44

Surely she came up on your feed because you've chosen to follow her?

She clearly has mental health issues and the best thing any complete stranger could do about that, would be to stop giving her attention on SM.

But you'll never stop her buying Mounjaro on the black market.

Fabulousagain · 25/04/2025 11:01

SM is full of them just leave them to it.

Lascivious · 25/04/2025 11:03

None of your business.

user1471538275 · 25/04/2025 11:04

Report her.

I wouldn't leave someone in the street bleeding or refuse to do CPR on a stranger.

I wouldn't stand by if someone was about to jump off a bridge either.

So, I'm not up with the 'let her kill herself' messages above

EmmaJane2025 · 25/04/2025 11:10

Yes, I absolutely would. It could save her life. Too many people in society take the ‘mind your own business’ approach to everything and I don’t think that’s always correct. Sometimes somebody needs to step in, even if it is a stranger/Good Samaritan. If someone was stood on the railings of a bridge, surely you’d stop and try to encourage them away or at the very least, call 999? Yes the situation is very different but the principle is the same in my opinion. She may not be actively trying to kill herself but that’s absolutely what is happening. Moral obligation. 100%

Napface · 25/04/2025 11:10

As someone who has suffered from anorexia in the past, I find the "let her die" responses quite upsetting. Anorexia isnt just a bad decision. I would send an anonymous email to the supplier and then step back.

You clearly don’t use TikTok! Thats not how TikTok works. Random videos come up on your ‘feed’ (For You Page) and if you like their videos then you choose to follow them. So no, you don’t have to be a follower to come across their content

No I don't use TikTok.

The OP says she's following this woman, so are you saying she's liking her videos?

reesewithoutaspoon · 25/04/2025 11:15

I would say stop following her. You do realise that every person who follows her, views or comments is providing her with an income to buy her mounjaro and continue on her path to destruction.
Maybe start there.

It is being fraudulently obtained, though.

From a supplier who does not do the type of checks which would prevent people with eating disorders obtaining the product. There are plenty of unscrupulous people out there. You could report her and this supplier might stop sending her the drug but she will find another who is willing to sell to her.

I'm not sure about whether a SM company would ban her for what is essentially
pro-ana content which would at least stop other people with eating disorders learning about how to access weight loss drugs. Although there is a young women with a very severe eating disorder who has had a big SM presence on multiple platforms for several years despite being reported many times.

WaterInMajorca · 25/04/2025 11:25

I don't know.

It's a v tricky position to be in OP.

What supplier is it?

My main concern would be that if she is banned again from this new online supplier she may feel she can no longer get the prescription from a licensed online pharmacy and instead she may be forced to turn to black market dealers which could b a lot lot worse.

So I'm a bit conflicted. Gosh, poor women.

I actually really really worry about the impact of glp1's on people with EDs ...

You don't put your name on it 🙃 or reply. You can go as far as to block them if you really don't want to get drawn into it

The supplier doesn't ask for video calls or contact GPs, so why would they care?

Ddakji · 25/04/2025 11:11

"Just take the easy route" is the message from this and other posters who say don't get involved. Of course we are involved. We are all humans together, and need to care about each other.

rosemarble · 25/04/2025 11:44

The only thing I would do is report it to tik tok. I don't use tik tok, but have reported many things in Instagram. They sometimes get removed, but often not. I don't think they care enough.

While you have no responsibility for this unwell woman, you can try and prevent such posts being seen by vulnerable, impressionable people.
