is mumsnet a hoax?

hashim · 16/05/2008 22:32

Mumsnet is brill, but I'm very suspicious... my reasons are,.......

I have noticed that any question from nipple advice to foster caring to mother in law advice is answered within approximately 10 mins. Surely the chances of someone who can offer advice being online at exactly the right time is minimal?

Also, the posts are all written in a very similar style and the advice given always covers all angles. What are the chances of all these people being on line at the same time?

I am a mum myself and manage to get online approx once a week. How does any mum or dad find time to be on for hours a day? I'm certain that some of, but not all of mums net, is set up.

Only five minutes 'til I clock off.

Tehre are only 13 people. They do the rest with mirrors.

now, there's a new thought, perhaps mumsnet is just a bunch of teenagers playing at being oldies!

Hasim - we multitask. I am posting under 20 different personas, watching JR on the sofa and spending quality time with DH, all from the remote MN warehouse. It can be done!

TheWiltedRose · 16/05/2008 22:58

that would explain some fo the threads

BoysAreLikeDogs · 16/05/2008 22:58

Been to Band Practce, dp at the pub bonding with his section [ooh er]

DCs are in bed.

What would you have me do? Housework?? Chores?? No chance

[folds arms]

Hassled · 16/05/2008 22:59

Hashim - sorry

BoysAreLikeDogs · 16/05/2008 22:59

hashim, ask us where we all live.

I'll start -

SW England

PeaGreene · 16/05/2008 23:03

BALD are you visitng Weston on Sunday?????

keepcalmandsauvignon · 16/05/2008 23:04

surely nearly all of the warehouse occupants are Scots - per recent thread on accents

soapbox · 16/05/2008 23:05

Ah well you know all the best call centres are in Scotland - they did a lot of research before deciding that a Scottish accent was the most acceptable to most callers

Buda · 16/05/2008 23:06

Actually this is the most sane question ever posted on MN and would explain a LOT.

keepcalmandsauvignon · 16/05/2008 23:06

can I tell you my best call centre story?

lilolilmanchester · 16/05/2008 23:06

Of course it's a hoax. Oh my, you weren't taking it seriously were you?!

PeaGreene · 16/05/2008 23:09

BALD Oh god I seem like a stalker. Will not be there myself but could have been and best of luck if you are.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 16/05/2008 23:09

PeaGreen, yes I am !!!

Without outing myself, we are entered in the fourth section, playing Dark Side eek.

[nightmare about not stuttering first entry - muted low Eb urgh]

BerylfromHumanResources · 16/05/2008 23:13

I feel it is time to answer this bi-annual poser.

Yes, there are indeed only a handful of actual posters (down by 25% now Dave's in Ibiza), they are employed by mnhq on a reasonable salary and spend their days responding with an average of 56 usernames. Their duties are numerous from advertising mooncups, educating the General Public in matters of grammer and typing accuracy, to subtley guiding a nation of parents towards Alfie Kohn.

Any further queries can be answered at NestleHead Office

BoysAreLikeDogs · 16/05/2008 23:14

Aaargh Beryl you got me !!

I've been so careful too

onepieceoflollipop · 16/05/2008 23:14

To the op - if you give up all or some of the following you will free up many hours to mnet:

tv
dvds
other websites
ironing and dusting in the evenings.

Pelvicfloornomore, I hope you weren't suggesting anything negative about Coventry.

susiecutiebananas · 16/05/2008 23:17

I also read that as Wiffy bedrooms in the Coventry Care home... I suspect there is Wi-fi and it is in Wiffy bedrooms...

What I was wondering ad trust me here, i'm not fishing at all, but, If I started a thread on a friday eve' would anyone think I were new too?
As in, I'm wondering if I post enough to be at least vaguely recognised??? I feel like I'm never not sitting in front of my flashing screen, hitting refresh, or active convos. Im slightly concerned I may in fact develop a pressure ulcer if I'm not careful.

While I"m at it, I ought to don anti embolic stockings, and jab a bit of Heparin every day- just to be safe.

Anyone want some? I've a large stock here, under the desk...

berylsboss · 16/05/2008 23:19

Beryl dear please get back to work now and stop playing about on the internet.

You have spelt "grammer" incorrectly. Please to go Pedants' corner and confess.

JodieG1 · 16/05/2008 23:19

Set up? How odd. I'm a mum of 3 and I manage to get online every day never mind once a week, then again I don't do housework every second of every day either.

BerylfromHumanResources · 16/05/2008 23:20

Well yes Pete Boys after all I know where you live. DO try to differ your styles a little more in future. And don't think I didn't notice 'Custardo' and'Cod' agreeing with each other earlier.

(Are you and Brian getting it on again??!!??)

OracleInaCoracle · 16/05/2008 23:21

we are all very, VERY good at "researching" for work/uni/college/birthdays, have very -boring-- understanding dp's and/or feral children!

hashim · 16/05/2008 23:21

buda, good stuff. I'm sill sticking by it. Advertising must make it a well paid job. I'm off to bed, because I am a real mum and have to be up at 7 for football practise and feeds and shit like that.
I'm from West Yorkshire btw.
