Does manifesting work

Have you ever manifested something or someone and it’s happened?

Fraaances · 16/04/2025 05:40

Well… every time I walk into work I try and manifest a lottery win. Hasn’t happened yet.

ChaToilLeam · 16/04/2025 05:43

No, what a load of rubbish!

DoYouReally · 15/04/2025 23:27

No, or I would have won the lotto.

That said, setting a goal, putting a plan in place to reach it rather than waiting for the universe to provide it does work with reasonable things

This 💯

Mummadeze · 16/04/2025 05:56

It has worked consistently for me in terms of money, jobs and housing. You have to believe it will work for it to work. Start on small things and see.

Squirrelblanket · 16/04/2025 06:32

Yes, but I believe manifesting is more about being clear and focusing on a specific goal and this making it easier to reach, rather than being awarded something by 'the universe'.

GeorgianaM · 16/04/2025 09:01

My parents taught us to believe we could achieve what we wanted and not to doubt our abilities or ourselves.

If we wanted something we could achieve it by setting it as our goal and not ever thinking we would fail.

Having that confidence definitely did make things happen and come true but I'm not sure if it could be classed as manifesting.

DaisyChain505 · 16/04/2025 09:37

Manifesting isn’t about wishing for something and it just happening. It’s about having a positive mind set, actively taking steps to make changes in your life and work towards your goals etc.

First reply nails it.

Trying to manifest something like a lottery win is obviously just woo but if you said, wanted to “manifest” getting a new job - say you look for a role, apply, prepare for the interview, and then get it, you did “manifest” but actually what got you there was the planning and action you took.

I don’t really believe in manifesting (I believe in ‘plan the thing and do it if you want to make it happen’) but I do think having a positive attitude about things where you want something to happen so you work towards it is an underrated part of achieving a goal.

hairyunicorn · 16/04/2025 09:43

hmmm been trying to manifest winning the lotto jackpot... nothing yet 😓

BlondeMummyto1 · 16/04/2025 09:47

I manifested my dream house.
I used to tell everyone I would live here and now I do.

My next manifestation is a baby so let’s hope it works. It’s more that you’re driven than just wishing for something.

Fgdvevfvdvfbdv · 16/04/2025 09:50

I wish it did, my life would be perfect in every way now if it did. And everyone else’s would.

It reminds me of a quote on a comedy show. It went something like “I manifested a helicopter. Then I spent 2 million pounds on a helicopter and now I’ve got one”.

You might as well ask the question has anyone been granted 3 wishes from a genie in a lamp!

andtheworldrollson · 16/04/2025 09:51

That’s a bit like asking have you ever got lucky? Has something ever worked out how you wanted it to? Would you say that was manifesting or just good luck?

and luck is something you can affect - you won’t get lucky with a doctors job if you don’t take your exams and work for your medical degree ; you won’t get lucky with love if you never date anyone, or if you put up with a loser because of love

but calling it manifesting makes it feel like you have more control and you have failed if you don’t achieve it. Which I think is unhelpful. And untrue.

AreMyEyesGreen · 16/04/2025 09:51

This is an interesting topic. I think 'manifesting' is about having positive, open intentions.

I read so so many threads here where people seem so closed off & shut down & suspicious of other people's motives & it's v different to how I go about things.

I think if you approach things (whatever it is - meeting new people, job interview, starting new job etc etc) with a positive mindset it really does impact the outcome & success & it's just that on a bigger scale for me.

Seeing & taking opportunities leads to more because you're tuned into seeing them.

I'd like to be richer though so need to work on that!

DancingLions · 16/04/2025 10:02

Manifesting doesn't work, not in the sense of just wishing for something and it appears. But, there is something to be said for having a positive mindset and believing things will work out.

I am where I wanted to be, but from a combination of factors, hard work, a decent amount of luck and having acceptance that sometimes things go wrong, but that's just life. Negative people get bogged down when something goes wrong, they don't take chances as they're so pessimistic they feel there's no point, or they worry about what might go wrong. They expect only the worst and then that's what they generally get. Partially because they cannot recognise that there might also be some good in the situation. I'm not saying every situation has a "good" side. Obviously things like serious illness, bereavement etc are different. But if say, you don't get a job you wanted, a pessimist will see all the negatives of that, whereas I might be disappointed, but I just accept there's a reason I didn't get it, it obviously wasn't for me, something better will come along etc.

So I guess rather than actively trying to manifest anything, I just trust things will work out in the end. Then I find they usually do.

tictactoo · 16/04/2025 10:18

If you want to believe it op why not.
I believe in past lives and the next life not everyone will but i like to think its true.

WillItEverWork · 16/04/2025 10:19

Agree with others, if you have a goal, put it at the forefront of your thoughts and actively work on it, you are much more likely to achieve the goal.

Also the placebo effect is a real thing too when it comes to manifesting health goals etc

Stickortwigs · 16/04/2025 10:28

How could picturing something happening make it happen?

Deciding you want something and taking action can.

People doing both will claim manifesting works, but it’s hocus pocus. When you think about it logically only actually doing something about it can make an impact.

If manifesting worked, why would you have to start on small things?

Maddy70 · 16/04/2025 11:19

Not sure you but if you think about something your mind often finds a way to enable your wishes

CharlestheBold · 16/04/2025 11:53

"Yeah, I am lucky, the more I practice the luckier I get". (Arnold Palmer, golf champion)

JustLikeThatBluebird · 16/04/2025 12:09

There's some truth in it in the sense that the right attitude can go a long way. One example is that I'm currently preparing for a big interview. The first thing I had to get right was answering questions with the right level of confidence as that will help me to look more confident and competent but also will help my confidence in myself. Which again, will help me to look more confident on the day.

But this is only a small part of the picture. If I just tell myself the job is mine and don't do any actual prep then I almost certainly won't get it.

And it only works in some circumstances. I have multiple chronic illnesses and having a positive attitude and believing myself well again is great now that I'm on the right medication and starting to improve but it did sod all when I was rapidly deteriorating and, if any, was harmful as it stopped me recognising my limits.

mondaytosunday · 16/04/2025 12:12

Ha no! Since I was a kid I have dreamed of owning a horse. I mean the details of where it would live, the schedule so I could take care of it, how to pay for it. It hadn’t happened.
Frankly people can wish for some thing with all their might but it takes actual real life steps to make anything happen.

YourWinter · 16/04/2025 12:14

My DD thinks it’s cool to wave smudge sticks around and make out that she’s doing witchy things, and manifesting. Her boyfriend seems bedazzled but I think it’s bonkers.

RomeoRivers · 16/04/2025 12:18

I manifested my life.
