Does it matter if you date someone your sibling has?

Not happened to me, but would it bother you if say you dated the same person as a brother or sister of yours did?
It seems the 2 Beckham brothers Dorklyn and Romeo aren't speaking because Romeo is dating an ex of Dorklyns?

When I was around 17 I went on some dates with one bloke, then later his brother. Didn't sleep with either! I do cringe at the memory now!

It’s wrong, I wouldn’t get with a friends ex never mind a siblings ex no matter how brief or long ago the relationship was. No boundaries ☹️

If it was someone a sibling just went out with for a few months at 17 or something, and they were now 40, it might not be an issue I suppose.

But if was a serious and/or recent relationship - especially if it ended badly - I’d certainly think it was a strange choice.

My sister and I have such incredibly different taste in men that the idea of dating anyone she’d even look twice at is making me cringe!

I knew a family where the oldest brother was going out with a woman (both in their late 20s). He was abusive to her. Younger brother was in love with the woman, everyone knew it and it was openly talked about in the family. Eventually the first couple broke up and she ended up with the kind brother who loved her. I lost track of them but I think they ended up having kids together but later still it didn't work out.

My exH had an affair with my then best friend. After we split he went out with her sister and eventually married their third sister. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’d shagged their mother too.

Depends on the circumstances. Huge difference between amicable split of a relatively casual relationship, and acrimonious separation after a serious one, and/or when bringing the ex back into your siblings world by dating them would cause them pain.
