In an ideal world. My birthday is coming up and on my wishlist, I’ve got: a Longchamp le pliage in paper, LEGO Pink bouquet set, a bracelet and a cake.

What about you?

I had my birthday recently and didn’t ask for anything but I like gifts that I wouldn’t buy myself.
i had some money from my parents to treat myself (haven’t decided what yet) DH paid for me to get my hair done. DC got me perfume and a couple of other gifts.

MissyB1 · 11/04/2025 14:22

I will be 57 in July, on my list this year;
Silk pillow case
Silk hair turban
Medik 8 skin products

What is this Lego stuff so many adults on this thread claim they want???

comeandhaveteawithme · 11/04/2025 14:36

No idea. It's in December and I usually just get vouchers which I end up spending on Christmas presents.

Every year I say I want a massage or a pedicure or afternoon tea or something nice to "do" rather than "have", and I rarely get it. DH did give me some money to go and get a pedicure but I never did it. I don't want money, it just ends up getting spent, especially in December. I wanted him to physically pick a place for me and get me a voucher, but men just don't understand the difference.

I did get a pedicure one year, seven years ago, from my mum and I got an afternoon tea voucher this year from my MIL but no-one wanted to go with me, so I haven't used it yet.

Birthdays are pretty underwhelming for me tbh.

KimberleyClark · 11/04/2025 14:39

I don't need anything, but I would quite like a digital projector.

I’ve heard of Lego of course but never for adults. It has had so many mentions on this thread that I suspect it’s a covert advert.

Nothing... my usual response is something from lush and a box of thorntons. In my free time I ride my motorbike and sew - but I don't need anything for either of those. I'm sure my husband hates me for it but I'm just not a belongings sort of person.

MiddleAgedDread · 11/04/2025 14:59

No, it's really a thing not a covert advert @StartAnew

I’ve got a big birthday coming up this year. I never normally care about them, but this year I would quite like some breakfast on the beach, some bubble bath (nothing fancy, just a bottle of Dove I can use all in one go), a Guy Morse-Brown hat block, some acrylic paint pens and a new pyrography pen (I go through them quickly because I am very heavy handed and bend the nibs). I’d also like my DH to track down and record all the episodes of Strike for me to binge watch and I’d like my mum to write out her recipe for fruit cake so I can have her writing made into a tea towel.

And I’d quite like a tea party, with triangle sandwiches of red salmon and egg mayo (not together), home made sausage rolls, rice crispy cakes, party rings, jelly and ice cream and a huge chunk of birthday cake. I like a restaurant as much as the next grown adult, but nothing feels quite as birthdayish as children’s party food.

mathanxiety · 11/04/2025 15:01

Cold, hard cash, thank you.

My DH loves Lego. He has a few of the big Star Wars sets that he hasn’t opened and that have now been retired that are now worth far more than what he paid for them. Sadly for him, our nephew is just starting to get into LEGO, so he might not have them much longer because he’s incapable of saying no to this child 😁

Just that is an open question about what people would like for their birthday and loads of people have said adult Lego which is surely rather niche!

gingercat02 · 11/04/2025 15:09

It's mine on Tuesday and i have no.idea. Would maybe like a new bag, but no clue what, or maybe some gazelle type trainers, but again no ideas on colour or brand. I guess I don't need anything..
Following for ideas. Happy birthday when it comes 💐🎉🍷🎂

It's really not! Adult Lego is incredibly popular just now. I'm not surprised to see it on so many people's lists, especially the flower sets which I'd say are aimed at the Mumsnet target demographic

aspidernamedfluffy · 11/04/2025 16:21

My birthday is December 25th so I'm just thankful for anything really. People have enough going on then without added stress about buying me a BD gift on top of an Xmas one. Most give me the safe option of £ which is fine by me.

notacooldad · 10/04/2025 22:17

Seriously nothing
I'm 60 in a few weeks and there is absolutely nothing I want or need.
I've still got gift vouchers from Christmas 2023 that I need to use soon but can't think of anything.
I'm happy with what I have.

Where are your vouchers for?

If you really don't want anything, use it for gifts for other people? Start stocking up for Christmas presents early?

BuntyBeaufort · 11/04/2025 16:31

Someone to wind the clock back about 20 years.

I have a £300 voucher for a niche outdoor shop which is very nice but I have all the mountaineering and outdoor kit I need.

I have a £200 voucher for Plas Y Brenin.

I have £100 voucher for Go Outdoors.
I've also got £150 to spend on ticketmaster which will be easy enough to do
I did think about asking for a new bike for my 60th but I've already got 4 and I think dh will pull his hair out if I ask for another! 😆

ginasevern · 11/04/2025 17:10

I'm 68 and the last thing I want is more stuff. What I really, really want is to be transported to Istanbul (preferably on a magic carpet) where I can gorge on a traditional Turkish breakfast.

KateArnott · 11/04/2025 22:06

Thank you all for your responses. I’m so glad to see LEGO is getting a lot of love 🥰
