I’d eat 2 or 3 of the big “ luxury “ fish fingers in a tortilla wrap with a bit of salad and either a home made mango 🥭 salsa ( easy and delicious) or those Mexican dips you get ( pack of 4 different ones including guacamole 🥑)
In fact sometimes that’s our dinner here 😋

Shortcut fish tacos, love em!

@easypeelings, you've clearly been buying the wrong fish fingers. Plenty are nothing like you describe nor UPF.

I really love a (massive) fish finger salad. Usually have 6 but could quite easily eat 10!

WorkItUpYourBangle · 13/04/2025 12:17

I often have nothing but fish fingers for my dinner but I am an autistic person and a perpetual child. It has to be the Bird's Eye cod fillet ones that cost about £6 now. I usually have 5 but I eat very little. Salt, vinegar and tomato sauce. Yum. Comes out at about 350cals so definitely nothing like celery.

@Bjorkdidit

what is the recipe for the mango salsa?

and where do you get the Mexican dips from?

Hello 👋 that is my random made up recipe using fresh mango cheeks diced up along side diced cucumber and spring onions .
Add lime juice , a little salt to taste and coriander if you like it .
I guess the quantities.
mexican dips are in Sainsbury’s or Tesco but Waitrose mexi dips are even better .
if I can get good avocados I make my own guacamole

Me too. But I'd probably just have two with tomato sauce on in white bread and butter if I was on my own for lunch.
10n s a whole pack and a bit indulgent!

Sorry but if 10 is top many then 2 is far too few. 5 or 6 surely!

Pickingmyselfup · 13/04/2025 16:52

Sorry but I'm disappointed in your choices.

At home a fish finger sandwich should consist of 4 fish fingers, homemade chips, cheese, ketchup and mayo in a white sliced bread sandwich.

When out a brioche bun, tartare sauce and mushy peas. No chips, just the sandwich.

The homemade chips should also be cooked in plenty of oil and a little garlic for flavour.

Now I want a sandwich but I'm not sure we have fish fingers and I really can't be bothered to make the chips.

Its really upset me this evening to be honest.

I can't settle. I need to know if you're okay?

Best sandwich -:fish fingers, battered, with mayo in a wrap and potato slices, crispy.

Toasted bread, bacon and brown sauce.

It’s a lot tbf OP, and pretty expensive.
but you do you.

Two quid? Three quid? Less than a quid if you get the cheap ones?

I know we get the competitive frugality on here, but how is that expensive?

ViaRia01 · 13/04/2025 17:23

I would quite happily eat ten fish fingers for lunch but if I had a visitor I would eat something normal instead.

Noodlesandpoodles · 13/04/2025 17:24

A box of fish fingers is the ultimate hangover cure for me. Covered in vinegar. Pure excellence 🤤

I'm often accused of competitive under eating but even I'd have 3 or 4.

But if you're worried about an entire pack being 'too much' just get them in boxes of 30 so you're only having a small amount out of the box, so that's OK.

DrCoconut · 13/04/2025 17:34

I like fish fingers but I have to have them gluten free so probably wouldn't eat 10 at once due to the cost, I have to spin them out a bit. Has anyone mentioned fishfinger pie? Like cottage pie but with fishfingers and tomato sauce at the bottom? Food of the Gods.

I think it depends on what/when your main meal is. Two for lunch would be fine for me, but I would probably have 3 or 4 for my main evening meal. 10 is off the scale.

I haven't actually eaten fish fingers since DS was little, and I'm wondering why! 🤔

IsThistheMiddleofNowhere · 14/04/2025 15:51

I bloody love fish fingers. If I'm having them with chips and peas, then five will do but I could probably do more if it were just fish fingers and nothing else. I also love to remove the breaded coating and put it in a little pile on my plate, smother it in salt and vinegar and eat it separately from the fish which I also smother in salt and vinegar.
