To ask if you had 6 girls age 11-13 for a sleepover ?

So it’s my DD’s birthday and she’s having a sleepover with the girls from her class. Their ages are similar. The youngest is 11 years 8 months and the oldest is 13 years 1 month.
Out of interest, what activities would you expect them to be doing? As in how would you expect them to entertain themselves on the sleepover? I don’t know whether to be pleasantly surprised or a little bit worried. 🤣 I’ll give information once I’ve had some replies.

Making popcorn, building pizzas, watching a film, doing make up. Staring at phones… staying up all night

Swiftie1878 · 06/04/2025 11:22

We did an out of house activity in the evening, then came home and had Dominoes pizza, then they just chatted, messed about with make-up, listened to music etc ALL NIGHT! 😂

Violashifts · 06/04/2025 11:22

my daughter has had a few birthday parties all the same age though. 11 was dancing, youtubes and chatting. But her 12th one of the kids had taken alcohol from her Dads bar. Luckily I over heard them doing ' shots' and confiscated it and told parents.
13 same just snap chatting, tik tok and watching videos.
They rarely watch a movie though with popcorn though they do eat and have made cakes and cookies etc.
Lots of talking etc.

arethereanyleftatall · 06/04/2025 11:23

roasting marshmallows, baking cookies, making/eating pizza, making TikTok’s, karaoke, films and popcorn, chatting, staying up all night/early hours, dancing, playing on trampoline, board games

Comedycook · 06/04/2025 11:24

I might organise

Pizza making
Karaoke
Watching a film
Face packs/painting nails

Needmorelego · 06/04/2025 11:25

At that age it's either be sneaky with some booze and vapes then texting some boys while giggling
or.....
digging out the Lego/Sylvanian Families/Barbies from under the bed and playing with them all night.
It's 50/50 which way it could go 😂

Heronwatcher · 06/04/2025 11:25

eating buffet food, maybe pizza, making sundaes, watching a film or you tube, refusing to sleep.

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 06/04/2025 11:25

If mine is involved probably summoning demons. She knows it's banned in the house.

Summoning demons!!! What is that?

keswickgirl · 06/04/2025 11:34

Depends what they enjoy, really. Any of the following:

painting their nails and doing new hairstyles and face-masks

baking cakes and cookies

maybe making each other treasure hunts

arts and crafts of varying kinds

watching films / TV shows

going to the park / riding bikes and scooters /playing games outside

of course spending their time on phones and apps of varying kinds.

Also maybe revisiting some old favourite toys like a dolls house. I can remember having a great ‘nostalgic’ time with my dolls house and the polly pockets when I was about that age, but this was with old friends from younger days where we had lots of memories of them, I wouldn’t have done it with newer secondary school friends! With them we used all my dad’s colour printer ink printing out ‘posters’ of Westlife we had made on Publisher 😂

Add in screaming the entire night long! But this is very accurate.

Loveduppenguin · 06/04/2025 11:39

ok so quite varied which is essentially what they did.
they did an activity outside of the house
then we came back to the house and I left them to it for a while… this is when they proceeded to go outside in the garden and play
Hide and seek
Sardines
Hung out on the patio and played while I can describe as a “try not to laugh game/challenge”
Then they came back in and ate an obscene amount of sweets 🤣 and watched a bit of a movie
Then set up the kitchen where they made pizzas. They ate the pizzas and watch the rest of that movie.
They did each other’s hair
They did no TikTok’s because none of them are allowed TikTok. I took their phones off them at 9 o’clock anyway.
I don’t think alcohol would even enter their heads to be honest.
They were up until about midnight.
They woke up this morning and I came in. They were watching Aladdin…
Then they had pancakes made by me
Since they have been playing a game that is like a cross between Nerf wars and I can’t even think of what the other part is based on.

so a lot of “playing” and I’m thinking this is lovely they’re very active they are a great bunch but they’re starting secondary school in September 🤣🤣

Love this! Mine would have been much the same (still are, with the addition of alcohol):

Too much time on phones
Doing hair/makeup/facials/nails
Gossiping about boys (tbf that was probably year 8 onwards)
Going out to walk the dog/take photos of themselves
Making pizzas
Eating ALL the snacks
Watching films
Dancing/making up routines
Shrieking and giggling all night until I threaten to send them all home (and even then just slightly quieter)
Being exhausted and monosyllabic the next day!

Needmorelego · 06/04/2025 11:44

@Loveduppenguin I think I love them 😂
That is what tweens should be 😍

FrenchandSaunders · 06/04/2025 11:46

When my DD was 13 and at a sleepover, me and DH were driving home from a night out at about 1am and saw her and the rest of the sleepover friends in the street. They’d sneaked out for a laugh. The parents had no idea until we knocked on their door.

Ah I love them too, to be honest. They’re a great bunch, I just hope secondary school and teenage years don’t ruin that 😢

Sounds a lovely birthday OP

I’ve currently got 4 x 10/11 yr old girls in my house, not sure where they all came from DD went out to play and then came back with a gang of them. They are currently drinking milkshakes and making Ramen and fruit salad to have for their lunch while I sit in the garden.

Violashifts · 06/04/2025 12:08

Year 6 and year 8/9 sleepovers are worlds apart.
A few parents would have issues with taking a year 9's phone. Obviously you don't have to invite them.
Nobody has ever taken dd phone at a sleepover thankfully.

My house, my rules. I made all the parents aware and all but one said they do the same. The other one said that’s no problem but her phone turns off automatically at 8:30 anyway . at 11-13 they don’t need a phone that late to be honest

They woke up this morning and I came in. They were watching Aladdin…

Live action or 90s animated version?

ThejoyofNC · 06/04/2025 12:20

They went to sleep at midnight and handed their phones over at 9pm? Sounds like a well behaved bunch. Hope your DD enjoyed her birthday.

BlondeMummyto1 · 06/04/2025 12:22

My teen has sleepovers most weekends. As long as they have lots of food and snacks they are happy to entertain themselves.

BlondeMummyto1 · 06/04/2025 12:23

The phone thing is very weird. Some kids like to text their parents at night.. Mine is 15 and was texting me late when at a sleepover ok Friday.
