What could I put in these gift bags at my wedding? (Just like the colour)

I know it’s very style over substance. But I’m having an English-Sikh Punjabi fusion wedding. My fiance is of Indian origin and im trying to bring in more Indian elements to bring balance to the wedding.

I would like to put these bags out on our tables to add colour as I have gone quite understated with tableware/decor.

What could I put in them? I am totally stuck. Choc? Nuts? Dried fruit? Has to be cheap!

Running out of time!

What about little beaded bracelets? I went to a wedding and we were given cheap little bracelets as a wedding favour and I’ve still got them and it was lovely seeing everyone in the wedding putting them on.

When is the wedding? If spring/soon, you could put in mini eggs? A much tastier alternative to sugared almonds. No melting.

We had a shot glass of mini eggs as favours at our Easter wedding.

They also match the colour scheme....

Sugared almonds are dated as a favour in my opinion, I remember my mum telling me she had them in the 80s.

I love the idea of chocolate coins though!

Oh FFS. They’re a centuries-old tradition, not an Instagram shot!

I agree that sugared almonds are really dated and originated in Italy! Especially as you want to add more Indian elements, I wouldn't do those.

-A little packet of Indian spices. You could alternate the spice in the bag, so couples are unlikely to get the same spices.
-Buy regular, plain cadburys (or a choc you like), melt and then add in various flavourings. Desiccated coconut, dried fruit, rose oil, cardamon etc for flavoured chocs. 1 flavour- not all! I did similar and used small, silicone ice block moulds to give the chocs shape. Mine were rose and heart shaped. I made a selection of white, dark and milk choc with various flavours. I put them into a cellophone bag (from amazon) to protect the outer bag
-Indian sweets or nuts
-A little packet of that mix that is good for breath. Google says its called Mukhwas

Isn't that where the word confetti comes from?
Italian for confectionery.

hereismydog · 02/04/2025 17:16

Indian sweets (if you can get your hands on any individually wrapped ones as they are very sticky!)

My colleague brings in the most amazing Indian sweeties sometimes and they are as pretty as they are delicious.

ThePinkPowerRangers · 02/04/2025 17:23

FML, not sugared almonds please. The 1980s are calling!

Who actually likes them anyway?

bigdecisionstomake · 02/04/2025 17:33

A friend of mine bought some pin badges for a charity that was close to her heart and some small chocolates. I thought it was lovely that some of the money had gone to charity.

afaloren · 02/04/2025 17:37

We put pick-n-mix (wrapped!) kind of sweets in ours, using some retro sweets like Wham! bars.

CarrieOnComplaining · 02/04/2025 17:52

Packet of travel tissues, party popper, a Lindor truffle choc and a kazoo

CarrieOnComplaining · 02/04/2025 17:53

And / or a scratch card

Idontjetwashthefucker · 02/04/2025 17:55

I love sugared almonds.. unfortunately my ageing teeth do not

SallyWD · 02/04/2025 17:56

Indian sweets?

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 02/04/2025 17:57

Incense cones and holder?

Cruisinforcroissant · 02/04/2025 17:59

Lottery ticket or scratch card?

Wolfpa · 02/04/2025 18:00

Spices

GabbySolisX · 02/04/2025 18:02

I don’t think you should put spices. Who wants to carry around a packet of tumeric or chilli powder? Stick to pick n mix or breath mints

Plin · 02/04/2025 18:04

I really hate sugared almonds!

If there’s a snack/sweet you both like, say jelly beans, I’d put those in. Otherwise chocolate coins.

Have you considered what you’re going to do with all the ones behind though? They’re a cute bag but there comes a point that you don’t want to take another wedding favour home. I think there might some left on the tables. Would you be upset if a large amount are left on the tables after the wedding?

I assumed people would take them?

A combo of Lindt ball, chocolate coins, wrapped chocolates such as a couple of roses. You could have fun doing different colour combinations.

stargirl1701 · 02/04/2025 18:07

Seeds?

Coffeeishot · 02/04/2025 18:08

I had sugared almonds at my wedding a billion years ago, nobody likes them nobody wants them but Mil wanted to make up.baskets!

Anyway those are gorgeous I'd bulk buy sweets maybe chocolate love hearts and put them in

ClearHoldBuild · 02/04/2025 18:08

I’d save your money, they’re very pretty but loads will just be left. Most guests don’t care about favours.

GildedRage · 02/04/2025 18:09

tea bags; chai, spiced turmeric or Darjeeling?
any family suggestions?
