What could I put in these gift bags at my wedding? (Just like the colour)

I know it’s very style over substance. But I’m having an English-Sikh Punjabi fusion wedding. My fiance is of Indian origin and im trying to bring in more Indian elements to bring balance to the wedding.

I would like to put these bags out on our tables to add colour as I have gone quite understated with tableware/decor.

What could I put in them? I am totally stuck. Choc? Nuts? Dried fruit? Has to be cheap!

Running out of time!

Sugared almonds?

ItsAWonderfulLifeforMe · 02/04/2025 16:30

Chocolate coins, or other wrapped chocolate such as ferrero rocher, or sweets (all allergy dependent!!)

OrsolaRosso · 02/04/2025 16:31

Are they one per table or per guest? Size is not clear.

FeministUnderTheCatriarchy · 02/04/2025 16:31

Breath mints. Everyone wants a mint at weddings with all the hugging and talking close together over loud music etc

You can even get personalised mints if you want to spend a bit extra but it isn't necessary.

One per guest.

Sweets - 5 sugared almonds are traditional in British weddings. Disposable cameras - you might be able to get freebies? Breath mints is a good idea!

Timeforaglassofwine · 02/04/2025 16:36

I love the bags BTW.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 02/04/2025 16:36

Traditionally it's sugared almonds.

AirborneElephant · 02/04/2025 16:36

You could go with spices or silk bangles / jewellery if you want to continue the Punjabi theme. Otherwise sugared almonds or mints would be great.

Lovely idea

The bags are so lovely OP.
Some good suggestions here
Have a wonderful happy wedding day .x

Wingedharpy · 02/04/2025 16:39

Stuff 'em full of £20 notes OP and everyone will agree that yours was the best wedding they' ve ever been to. 😉
Lovely bags.

Sugared almonds are dated as a favour in my opinion, I remember my mum telling me she had them in the 80s.

I love the idea of chocolate coins though!

WhereIsMyLight · 02/04/2025 16:44

I really hate sugared almonds!

If there’s a snack/sweet you both like, say jelly beans, I’d put those in. Otherwise chocolate coins.

Have you considered what you’re going to do with all the ones behind though? They’re a cute bag but there comes a point that you don’t want to take another wedding favour home. I think there might some left on the tables. Would you be upset if a large amount are left on the tables after the wedding?

They go way back before then, plus they're nasty!!

bleugh!!

Can I have a pink one, please!!

It's kind of hard to tell how big they are? But I'd love it if I opened it and found Lindor chocolates inside.😊

Speckson · 02/04/2025 16:46

Ordinary sugared almonds are very reasonably priced in shops like Grape Tree. If you want to splash out more you can buy gold or silver ones.

Or you can get foil wrapped milk chocolate hearts. Or little packets of Love Hearts 💖

PoppysAunt · 02/04/2025 16:47

They're very pretty, but wedding favours are a waste of money, imo. You can include the cultures in other ways, with the food, music, clothes?

BabyBean03 · 02/04/2025 16:48

What about a little wedding ‘survival’ kit - couple of plasters, painkillers, mints or chewing gum and some chocs or sweeties? X

Wingedharpy · 02/04/2025 16:50

Chocolates inside a fabric bag on a hot summers day may not be a good mix.
Love hearts would be sweet - literally - unless you are marrying a dentist!

KnickerFolder · 02/04/2025 16:51

A few chocolates, Love Hearts, mints.

Another bag? 😂 I have a recycled silk Sari shopping bag that folds up to nothing in my handbag. There seems to be similar online starting at about £3 but you could probably get them for a lot less wholesale. Mine was actually free. A local clothes and home wares store gives them away to carry your purchases instead of a plastic carrier bag.

SunnySideDeepDown · 02/04/2025 16:53

Definitely wrapped - else people won’t want to eat it. I’d echo gold chocolate coins and Ferrero Roche -

Well, given she says she's running out of time I can't see it being such a hot day any time soon that that's gonna be a problem. The Sun is pretty here today, but the wind is bloody freezing.
