anyone else have this sore throat virus

i have had a sore throat when swallowing the pain is unreal the back of my throat is clear no redness no white patches doctor has checked me over twice now and i’ve had this for 9 days !
keep coughing a lot also
doctor won’t give anything because it’s viral and it won’t help anyway but i am so miserable not being able to swallow properly 🤦🏻‍♀️

same! Went to doc after 3 weeks and she gave me acid reflux medication but I haven’t taken it as I really really don’t think it’s that

i have reflux a lot sometimes and it’s never caused this and a rennie sorts its asap for me this is something else this is i’ve never had anything like it suppose it nice to kno we aren’t alone

I was so glad to read this thread and know I’m not going crazy. Tbh 2 people have since told me in RL they also have it ongoing. So it’s definitely a thing everywhere. A super bug sore throat thing

@Doolallies i think so also as my partner kept saying to me his throat is sore and nothing is helping him and his work mates is also and they had that for a full month and i said “ you need book in GP and get it seen not good that long to have a sore throat “ and he said said no it will go he doesn’t worry about much i panic a lot and start thinking the worst but now ive seen so many with it im calming down abit hopefully it goes for us soon 🤞🤞

Mine feels a little better today! Awful in a morning but bearable in the day now. Hope everyone else feels better soon

OMG, I have it too, razor blades in my throat, sinus and whole head feel swollen and tender. Massive cold sore. Dry cough.

I m wondering if it's Covid? I might try and get a test.

Hello, my throat is now tender, in recovery after the razor blades feelings. I ve been coughing up phlegm in the mornings, which I think means it's bacterial.

OMG, my whole head is still tender, my sinuses are literally tender and achey and tired.

I ll gargle in antibacterial mouthwash today, hopefully that will help.

I have had something similar...sudden pain on the left side of the throat with some kind of dull ear pain as well. It didn't hurt to swallow but it did hurt to open my mouth.

A pharmacist has prescribed penicillin as he thought he saw an infection. I felt 90% percent better after a few days, but now I feel some pain on the other side; It does seem like the germs are recruiting:(. It has been two weeks for me...slight cough and no fever.

How is everyone?

I woke up with a weird pain in the right side of my throat a few days ago and it’s kind of radiating out up the side of my face, into my right ear and in my jaw. It seems to hurt more if I bend over. I woke up with a sore throat this morning, a headache and I’m really tired and fuzzy headed. I’m assuming now that it’s this 😕

Do you also have a terrible cough that makes you pee?

DH and I have it too - in Ireland. We're in week 3 and, although it's improved, we both still have the cough and the sore throat - especially at night and in the mornings. I've found Strepsils strawberry flavoured lozenges help a bit, plus paracetamol and ibuprofen alternated. I don't have tonsils (DH does, and I only found that out this week, as in 30+ years together I'd never thought to ask him before!), but my throat hasn't had any white patches that I could see.

Right now my throat's more sensitive than sore - feels a bit as though there are flaps down there that aren't opening properly - hard to descibe. Glad, in a way, to hear that others have had this for up to 4 weeks, as I'd also read about the 'worry after 10 days' thing - and was duly worrying.

This sounds very familiar. I never knew a jaw could hurt from sore throat!

Dh has had it for nearly 3 weeks now, his cough is awful. Every time he thinks the sore throat is settling down, it comes back with a vengeance!

Mine lasted a couple of months but is finally getting better now. Dr didn’t give me anything for it but did send me for a chest x-ray (ex smoker)

Mine went away and I had a week or so with no sore throat. Last two days it’s back and worse. Hope we all shift it soon

To ease throat pain, try Calpol and let line/coat your throat, v soothing.

Just curious has anyone actually done a Covid test? I’ve just had this but it was Covid. There’s a lot around at the moment.

But Covid has changed how we react to colds and other viruses. Colds since having covid twice in March 20 and July 22 are longer and more in the sinuses.

Not yet…but I’ve only been cough free for about three weeks since New Year because of that bloody 100 day cough nonsense. I do not want another bloody cough.

I wondered if the covid test would pick up the latest strain? I have suggested to Dh that as he's a Dr he probably should test! He's going into work every day feeling like shit and coughing away (he has been wearing a mask).

oh gawd. I am pleased you finally recovered. I will try the corsodyl thing. I was drinking neat whisky in bed overnight I think that helped a bit too.
