Just that really. Where's my lie-in!!!!

OP posts:
BitOutOfPractice · 30/03/2025 08:11

It does seem badly designed this year.

happy Mother’s Day anyway op.

TokyoSushi · 30/03/2025 08:14

We’ll be more pleased about it this evening when it’s light, but for now 😴😴😴

fungibletoken · 30/03/2025 08:14

Haha - fair! How old is/are yours? We haven't got anything on today so I just woke when toddler woke which I guess means the same amount of sleep at usual. It's bedtime/trying to get them up tomorrow in time to get to work that's going to be fun 🫠 hope you have a nice day anyway, OP!

Snapespeare · 30/03/2025 08:15

Totally agree. Mine was exacerbated on my one sodding morning off of dog duty, by said dog jumping on me while still in bed. Dog is a 60lb bastard Labrador.
Managed to get back off to sleep then adult son reported a power cut.

ScrewedByFunding · 30/03/2025 08:17

Do you have an alarm set then? Because I don't understand why people think they lose sleep?

My dog sleeps all night and around 6.30am he wakes for a wee. Sane this morning, except the clock said 7.30am. He didn't suddenly wake an hour earlier at 6.30am still...

Same with little ones and adults. So unless you have set an alarm for today then I don't get it.

ThingsgetbetterwithalittlebitofRazzmatazz · 30/03/2025 08:18

I think when mine were little and early risers, I quite liked the clocks going forward as it meant they started getting up am hour later on the clock which felt better. So maybe it'll work out well for some mothers today.
Also, an hour less to work if you're doing the night shift.

Happy mother's day everyone!

Ifailed · 30/03/2025 08:19

Mothering Sunday is a religious festival and, like Easter, it's date varies. We switch from GMT to BST on the last sunday in March.

Don't some people work on a Sunday?

Yes of course including my DH. That's why I said 'unless you're setting an alarm'. 🙄

TogetherNormanDouglas · 30/03/2025 08:22

DH has planned an entire day of golf today and he needs to be at the golf club by 10. He has forgotten to set the alarm. He is still in bed snoring his head off. Should I wake him up?

Because babies and little children are often woken by the light and don’t just sleep the same amount of time when the clocks change.
It’s not really comparable to your dog.

You've reinforced my point not contradicted it!

BasilParsley · 30/03/2025 08:26

It's more the fact mothers are shortchanged by an hour that gets me...
Fathers have the full 24 hour day...
Discrimination!

It is is the same as the dog in that neither can tell the time! Also I have children, they're just older now. There's no need to sound like only people with small children know.

The light today is the same at 7.30am and it was yesterday at 6.30am. Why would the child suddenly wake an hour earlier?

Unfortunately yes this is the case for lots of Mums is it that hard for you to imagine?? Sports fixtures / training / rehearsals don’t start later so yes we’re all up an hour ‘early’ today to get to our hobbies

Yes hence why I said 'unless you have an alarm set'. But OP was only talking about a lie in.

Same. I also don’t get the people who bang on about it all week!
It only really affects people who work Sundays.

FanofLeaves · 30/03/2025 08:31

I freely admit I don’t fully understand the clocks going forwards or back, I always forget what one means what, but I do remember the first time it happened all the NCT Whattsap chat was going mad with everyone wondering what it would mean for our baby’s sleep and what we could do to mitigate it 😆

That baby is 3 now but is still snoozing away- because if I’m not mistaken the level of morning light is the same as what it would have been at 7:30 yesterday? I haven’t lost anything?

It’s a huge bonus if he sleeps in past 7 on the weekend so I’ll take it 😃

Cheepcheepcheep · 30/03/2025 08:33

I was woken at 6.45 today by youngest instead of my usual 5.15 so I will take it! (That’s half an hour’s gift from my 2yo and an hour for the clock change).

The autumn clock change is worse psychologically imo with v little ones, although lighter evenings are going to increasingly be annoying for the next few months!

Still, I’ll take more light over less. This is the point in the year I sink out of seasonal gloom :)

Roll your eyes all you want but saying you can't understand or don't get why shows a lack of understanding for other peoples situations.
HTH.

You obviously don’t have children in grassroots sport…!

Ooops. Just did and he said he didn’t have to get up until 9. But he’s gone downstairs to make me a Mother’s Day cup of tea so I suppose I’ll forgive him for going out and leaving me all day on MOTHERS DAY.
