I know I know, it’s no doubt this weekend because of the moon or the tides or the position of Jupiter or something but seriously - why do we have to lose an hour on Mother’s Day?! Would it be so hard to move it a week?

YABU- if you have young children you’re no doubt up at the crack of dawn anyway so what does it matter?

YANBU- it’s mean and vindictive 😂

It’s not personal. It’s an equinox.

suburburban · 28/03/2025 20:20

It would be better the following week when Easter holidays begin.

i hate it too

PiastriThePastry · 28/03/2025 20:21

It’s a bit rude really 😂

ThisUniqueDreamer · 28/03/2025 20:21

It should be a week earlier

Acc0untant · 28/03/2025 20:22

It's just mother's day, it's really not a big deal

harijes · 28/03/2025 20:22

As PP says it’s not personal. But it has made for some great memes on social media.

SpongeKnobNoPants · 28/03/2025 20:23

Fuck the equinox, nobody would die if it were delayed until Monday

I'm with you OP. It's a pisstake. I'm demanding that on father's day we also put the clocks forward the night before so DH loses an hour off his obligatory bloody lie in!

hby9628 · 28/03/2025 20:24

Agree! We are up early for one of the kids activities anyway. Losing this hour is just disappointing. I am taking a stand though and refusing to get out of bed until the very last minute and have asked that they bring me a brew to wake me up.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 28/03/2025 20:24

I've heard a lot about this from my husband.

It's his birthday so he's been moaning that
a) I'm going to get more cards and gifts than him as it's Mothers' day and
b) He doesn't even get a full day.

Luckily our kids are grown so no ruined bedtimes/routine to contend with too.

Liliol · 28/03/2025 20:24

Go to bed an hour earlier on Saturday night if it matters that Sunday is a specific length. Not that it really can by just one hour either way ...

ethelredonagoodday · 28/03/2025 20:25

All if the above OP, plus having to go to a rugby festival all morning. Excellent planning. Not.

It’s the irony really. As if motherhood wasn’t brutal enough!

Yellowhammer09 · 28/03/2025 20:25

Mother's Day, or Mothering Sunday, doesn't come from the equinox, it's because it's the fourth Sunday of Lent 😉

Sofiewoo · 28/03/2025 20:25

Objectrelations · 28/03/2025 20:19

It’s not personal. It’s an equinox.

Spot the person who doesn’t have early rising babies right now.

hjokhjjjkkkd · 28/03/2025 20:29

Ah it’s so tough when you have little ones, but it’s not for long, clock changes don’t really matter when they’re bigger and you can just sleep in anyway! They’ll soon be a non deal again as they were pre kids!

SabrinaToolmaker · 28/03/2025 20:29

I blame the patriarchy

He needs to wind his neck in consider why you have more children than he has friends.

DH booked a few days away for the first week of the school holidays (we no longer have DC at school but volunteering and other commitments make sense for us to go away in school holidays) except he failed to look at the school holiday calendar and booked a week too early and the flight time prevents me seeing DM and DD on Sunday. Add in the end of the tax year and losing an hour on Sunday is the least of my problems.

TheDandyLion · 28/03/2025 20:40

So do Mothers day when the Americans do it.

Mother's Day, or Mothering Sunday, doesn't come from the equinox, it's because it's the fourth Sunday of Lent 😉

But Lent is obviously related to Easter Sunday, which is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring equinox. So Mothering Sunday is related to the equinox by indirectly.
It's just coincidence it's on the click change weekend this year.

So do Mothers day when the Americans do it.

Mothering Sunday goes back many centuries and has nothing to do with Hallmark.

GuessingGownaGoGo · 28/03/2025 20:45

I'm going to put the clocks forward tonight just so I don't feel robbed on mothers day

I didn't mention Hallmark. I made the suggestion as an alternative solution.

Ew to you too?
