It’s a parking one

We have had someone park across our driveway this seems to be most days, for between 2 mins and 30 mins, while their child gets off the school transport (their child has SEN) this person lives about 10 houses down.

I approached them to ask them not to do this and they can park their car in numerous places and that they had blocked me getting off my drive the day before by 30 mins, when I had an important appointment. well I got a mouthful telling me that I was a Cu£t and they were not parked just stopped the fact they were out of their car chatting to the transport driver and going into their house to get bags etc.

They are now parking across the drive and not moving at all every single day, AIBU to call the council so that they get a bloody park ticket.

Call the council and explain what is happening.

If they live so close, can the transport not drop them off directly? Do they have a disabled badge?

itsleviosa · 26/03/2025 11:46

You can ring the police if they’re blocking you in as it’s not allowing you access to the highway

CaramelVanilla · 26/03/2025 11:49

Ask them to move every time and video it

DeathNote11 · 26/03/2025 11:50

I'd park my own car where they're parking theirs for a few days. Force them to find & use an alternative THEN complain to the council if they revert back. Demonstrates they're being unreasonable.

MzHz · 26/03/2025 11:51

Move your car to get out of your drive and lean on the horn until they move.

every time.

They call you a cunt? BE A CUNT. Go full on fucking Ghetto on them if you have to, show them you are NOT to be fucked with.

Where is the transport in all this? why are they not stopping outside this persons house?

if you use the space where they are parking, then people will think its ok to park there when you are not.

I wouldn't do that

We all know whose car is whose on our street. But I appreciate your scenario may be the case on bigger streets.

PhilippaGeorgiou · 26/03/2025 11:55

I know this isn't the point, but who the hell drives the distance of 10 houses to park? Is there something wrong with their legs? I have virtually no mobility and I'd be mortified to drive the distance of 10 houses every day!

Fluffyholeysocks · 26/03/2025 11:59

Speak to the school. Our primary school were hot on inconsiderate parking - every week something was in the newsletter as parents were carrying on blocking drives. Then the headmistress asked the local PCSO to patrol at dropping off time. So keep on at the school.

I have watched this in action as neighbours try to get off their driveway during school pick up. Where someone sees the car leave so thinks, there is a great cheeky park and they then stop there. Meanwhile the person trying to leave their driveway is in and out moving everyone on, usually with an abusive reaction from the person who decided they should be able to stop there or park.

Londonmummy66 · 26/03/2025 12:05

Park your car across their driveway and when they complain explain that you need to find somewhere to park that won't get blocked in

Soontobe60 · 26/03/2025 12:05

I don’t understand - why are they parking 10 houses down from their house?

Their child get dropped off in a school taxi and their house is up a private driveway of about 10 meters, they drive down that and park completely over my drive with loads of other spaces, this lady meets the cab there and then drives off and comes back to her house. She sometimes parks across my drive and then goes into her house before the taxi is due.

OP posts:
MzHz · 26/03/2025 12:24

call the cab firm and complain. tell the cab to go up the private drive
tell the school and the council

And go batshit, ideally in front of her kids, she will have to back down.

10 METRES? Again I ask - is there something wrong with their legs??? And why is the cab dropping a child somewhere that is not where they are going?

Why can't the taxi drop the child off in front of their drive though?

Is it an issue that the taxi cannot then turn around or something?

KittenKins · 26/03/2025 12:30

Speak to the cab company. I had a wee issue with a SEN pick up & parking spaces. A quick call to the cab company sorted things.

Tbh from what OP is saying it seems that if she came home and someone was parked over her drive, she could just park elsewhere on the street until they moved (I might be wrong).

The simple answer is to stop using your drive, and you'll never be blocked in on it. If the CF is prone to mouthing off and abuse, it's the quickest and easiest route to solving the impact on you, because they won't stop.

Good plan
Maybe give the CF's car a quick valet and leave her a box of chocolates as well

MajorCarolDanvers · 26/03/2025 12:42

I’d been tempted to take a photo and put on the local area Facebook page.

The taxi can turn but chooses not to.

No I can’t move my car off my drive. Please read my post again.

Why should I not use my drive?

Should I bring her a cup of coffee while she is blocking my drive.

Then I would think that a complaint to the taxi company may also help and note this when you are discussing it with your council.

I didn't suggest you should move your car off your drive. I meant stop using it in the future, at least for now.

I knew the 'why should I...?' would come next Hmm I've been on the receiving end of the same kind of behaviour, complete with the gobful of abuse. It's not fun, and a little part of me died every time they 'won' the daily drive war but you might feel differently. If you want to carry on using your drive out of principle, then she'll keep blocking you in. No matter what you say, she's not going to suddenly stop because you said so.

There's only one way of stopping her blocking you in, soooo...
