To think that being in a good shape requires a daily effort and constant discipline

Especially when you are not in your 20s anymore.

I fell off the wagon and blame having a small DC and a FT job but I know nothing will ever change unless I make this a non negotiable priority.

AIBU to think that the only way to stay in a good shape in your 40s, when you work an office job especially, is to make it a daily "job"?

What do you do to keep healthy, fit and to generally feel good with yourself and your body?

@rosemarble I don't have enough time to walk to the gym, exercise, walk back as that alone would be more than 1 hr, unless I only go to the gym for literally 20 mins, which I could but I might as well train at home if that's all I go for, I guess.
The only things I could do on my break are either workout at home (which I have never found real motivation to do but I think I should just do it as seems a no brainer really) or running, which I really don't like so won't stick with it.

Ah, it's a shame you don't like running. For those that like it, it's ideal for being able to squeeze in here and there, and if you're not customer facing you can have a shower and go back to work with wet hair.

It's hard work. I walk a lot and use public transport and I do lots of stairs but I need a hard 45 minutes to an hour workout to keep fit. That's in addition to a pretty healthy vegetarian diet and I haven't drink alcohol in decades.

I already walked a mile this morning but I'm about to go do some steady state rowing. What really helped me was buying my own exercise machines and some weights. All I have to do is go upstairs rather than hoof or bus it to a gym. It's an investment in my health that's paying off.

I'm 40 and very proud of my body.

I work a full time office (hybrid) job, but don't have kids, so have time to fit in plenty of exercise.

I run a couple of times a week - maybe a 5k and a 7k. I go to the gym and do weights and cardio workouts, and Body Pump and spin classes - 2 or 3 times a week. I also hike when I can, and walk the dog daily. At the weekend I might do a long run in the morning and lift weights for an hour later that same day.

I joined the university gym at 18 and haven't gone a week since without working out, so I've been working at it for 22 years now. It's something I really love

I also eat clean. I'll have a takeaway when I want too, but I spend a hell of a lot of time on prepping healthy food.
