On a recent flight back from Thailand we had a stop in Dubai airport, I was tremendously excited as I wanted to try Dubai chocolate that has been going viral on social media. Bought a bar of the chocolate, it cost £9 and it was just meh. Ok but nothing special. Prefer a flake. Anyone else tried it? What’s your thoughts? AIBU in saying it’s nowt special?

I worked in Saudi years ago , not sure if they sell in in Dubai but loved Patchi chocolate. Try it instead. Probably exp3nsive though. Also loved the Schwarmas !! Delish.

Vile to be honest. Had the pistachio one and was left very disappointed. Wont try them again.

They have it at Lidl on Saturday, someone explain why it’s better than delicious Belgian, Swiss or other chocolate for that matter. It’s the cocoa that matters

I think the 'Dubai' part is the pistachio and crispy bit filling.

Like any other chocolate product, the quality of the chocolate and other ingredients can vary hugely.

It's likely that some Dubai chocolate is made with good quality chocolate, others less so, but in this case, it's the pistachios, and likely the hype, that's adding to the cost.

Pistachios are this years 'in' ingredient it seems but it's quite likely that, like everything that has quietly existed for years, someone with a following on Tiktok has 'discovered' it and now everyone wants it.

The other current obsession is cottage cheese. Meaning that a small local brand (Longley Farm) that I've grown up with and was the one that most people in Yorkshire have bought for decades is now suddenly the cottage cheese equivalent of the Magpie fish and chip shop in Whitby in that the entire country is obsessed with this 'incredible artisan better than everything else by far' product that has been our basic ordinary standard offering since the beginning of time. But now you struggle to get it in shops because it sells out so quickly.

The hype is about the original Fix Dubai chocolate. There are different flavours and they taste divine.

The knock offs don’t compare.
