To think reading is overrated. Persuade me to become a reader pls

Something I would never admit IRL. I just never saw the point of reading if not for a bit of entertainment, which is nice, but why is it so much better than watching a film o listening to an audio story?

I mean, a picture is worth a thousand words.

A great actor inhabiting a great character can convey an emotion in an instant.

Books can be great, but so can movies or TV. Who has never left the cinema crying or feeling like they've been punched in the gut?

YANBU. I love to read, have been so since childhood and it's just the same as watching a movie etc for me, but anyone who tells you that you absolutely must read as an adult with your own spare time is being silly and a bit pretentious. Reading is better for your brain but not everyone must be a great intellectual and read 1,000 books a year
