Finishing my bottle of wine off in the bath

Gotitok · 09/03/2025 17:00

Had half a bottle of wine with my curry last night. Finishing it off now in the bath. DH thinks this is weird and unacceptable but I don’t really care. Any opinions? Or should I check myself in to AA?

If it was half a bottle last night and the rest tonight as a one off fine, if it's a daily thing it's not so fine.

Thing is partners get to see the full picture so perhaps your dp has reason to think it is unacceptable?

godmum56 · 09/03/2025 17:48

Tell your partner you are getting one of these. https://www.amazon.co.uk/bath-wine-glass-holder/s?k=bath+wine+glass+holder

I love a glass of wine in the bath, especially with a face mask and bath bomb 🥰

NewYearNewDietAgain · 09/03/2025 17:49

I regularly drink wine in the bath! Grin

Iloveacurry · 09/03/2025 17:50

Sounds great op!

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 09/03/2025 17:50

I had a glass of wine in the bath last night to finish the bottle I opened Friday evening, my favourite way to relax at end of day xxx

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 09/03/2025 17:51

@GloriousBlue Baths just dont work for me. Too warm, too bored.

Add some more cold water and take a book 😁.

MissDoubleU · 09/03/2025 17:51

Some men just can’t see women having a nice time without them, can they?

Assuming he’s never been to the pub/had a beer on a Friday and a Saturday. If only we could all be so holy as he.

I already have one of those. Glass of wine, ebook, candle (on the side, I'm not mad) sorted.
DS uses it too he can watch YouTube in the bath. He doesn't have wine!

BunnyLake · 09/03/2025 17:53

I very rarely drink but I’m pretty sure even I’ve had a glass of wine in the bath, along with some snacks and chocolate 😁

I wouldn't swig out the bottle though, that doesn’t seem ambient enough for me. Low lights, a plastic glass (rather than cup) and a selection of treats 😊

CalicoPusscat · 09/03/2025 17:54

If you enjoy it go right ahead! It's your 'you' time, nothing to do with DH.

Crack on, why not?!

Pretty much this

Nothatgingerpirate · 09/03/2025 17:59

Wow!
I'm teetotal because I literally stopped coping with alcohol - but if you are alright with it, why not?
Also, curry and wine, that would mean a long time in the toilet for me 😕
(Some sort of IBS, probably anxiety etc).

Drinking it out of the bottle🫢

I was about to ask if you were having a bubble bath with candles all around and drinking the wine out of nice crystal. But if straight from the bottle works for you, crack on !!

eatreadsleeprepeat · 09/03/2025 18:02

Bath plus wine plus book is one of my ways to spoil myself, but definitely need a glass! And not plastic! When we had our bathroom done a few years back there was a space next to the bath so I got them to do me a nice little gin shelf😂

PeriPeriMam · 09/03/2025 18:08

He will need to spell out exactly what is supposedly wrong about this wonderful precious scenario, in order that I could understand what is his objection to it

BustyLaRoux · 09/03/2025 18:10

I have also just finished last night’s wine whilst in the bath. Everyone is out. Why the hell not??

guffaux · 09/03/2025 18:15

we go on holiday with dp's brother and sister in law.... love them dearly but i would not survive the week without my daily bath with a very (very) large glass of red wine around 5pm

Mumwithbaggage · 09/03/2025 18:16

Wow! A whole MN thread involving wine without the usual pile of judging! Must admit, I wouldn't drink out of the bottle but have no issue with a very big wine glass.

FishPie2 · 09/03/2025 18:22

I have just stayed in a lovely old fashioned hotel for 4 nights which had a great big bath so I bought some nice bath goods (I only have a shower at home) and every afternoon I had half a bottle of wine whilst having a relaxing long soak then a shower to rinse off the bubbles. 😍

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 09/03/2025 18:24

@Mumwithbaggage Give it time. I'm sure someone will be along to tell us what a dreadful lot of lushes we are soon...

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 09/03/2025 18:28

In my opinion, wine is wasted with a curry.
I'd have had a beer last night, & had all the wine in the bath.
Erm, no. I don't have a bath, shower is impractical, so just the bottle in front of the TV.

7catsisnotenough · 09/03/2025 18:28

Book, nibbles, wine and cigarettes (. know - guilty pleasure!) and a long, hot bath - absolute bliss!

Sadly one of the pipes under the bath burst last week so I can but dream until the insurance company sorts it out 😭

Mumofyellows · 09/03/2025 18:32

Sounds bloody lovely!
