...to enjoy having different types of one thing without it being commented on by others in the school playground??

Ok, I'm pram obsessed! Lol.

However, surely it is up to me and if it keeps me happy then there is no harm done. Also, why is it that others assume that I have a whole 'fleet' of 20 different prams at home because I always have different ones. Well, approx. once a month maybe longer dependant on if I like them or not!

I rarely buy new and always sell one to buy another.

I only speak to one other Mum in the school playground, I just get looks and whispering from others. Until last week when one Mum plucked up the courage to speak by asking if I was a buggy tester and has never spoken since. Then on Friday I allowed dd to walk, (it only took us 2 hrs to do a 10 minute walk, lol!), and another Mum piped up 'Why you letting her walk when you have about 15 different prams'.

Whether its shoes, handbags, clothes etc.... Its all the same and I don't passs judgement on other Mums by having different handbags everyday or a different pair of shoes everyday??

Rant over but its my one little indulgence that I am sad to say I enjoy but wish people would speak to me instead of assume things.

Sorry OTT, but feel better now I've said it!!!

i've had loads of buggies (maybe not one a month) but a fair few

i have only had one person comment and am quite happy to laugh at myself about it though

i always point out if anyone mentions it that i always sell my current one first and have not lost money over it so i don't see the prob

my thing is it's not a fshion accessory but i just cannot find one i can get along with, i should just design one myself

hopefully after all the lo's are at school full time my vast far reaching knowledge of buggies may earn me a job in mothercare or toys r us

what wrong with wanting to have diffrent prams ?
i had about 5 diffrent prams with my daughter
only had 2 with my son up to now!
but if i had money i would change my pram more often.
ignore them in the playground they got nothing better to do then talk about other people.

oops sorry pressed button twice!

vInTaGeVioLeT · 13/05/2008 22:33

i think you're being paranoid and a tiny bit silly - but if prams float your boat go for it you could have much worse addictions.

nkf · 13/05/2008 22:37

But why do you keep changing prams? It's like buying a new toaster every month. Or another key ring.

madmuggle · 14/05/2008 00:17

From my point of view it's a wrist thing. I have two conveyances at the minute. The 'big pram' is now unsuitable for my son as it's too big for him (very slight, but determined to sit, pram has little support for his frame). His buggy is unsuitable for me as it physically hurts me to use it for longer than an hour or so as I have problems with my wrists (PCT has very long waiting lists for therapy too ). Hence the saving pot so I can replace them with something that suits us both. It will bring my total for this baby up to three in ten months*. Not good, but explainable

  • Four if you count the twin buggy I share with a friend for babysitting duties

. With an RRP of £450 that "Perfect Pram" the Stokke Xplory ought to be gold-plated, imho.

Wheels look thin to me, seat looks too small, handles & basket too small to push at speed or fit shopping & 3 lots of school bags on. Can imagine wheels wearing down fast, can't imagine bunging a tired big 3yo in there for a comfy nap on a 1.5 mile walk home from busy day out.

(lljkk Enjoys sowing seeds of doubt in OP's mind).

HappyNewYearFeet06 · 14/05/2008 10:23

lljkk, it is surprisingly versatile.

Pushes so easily and shopping basket expands so you can fit loads in. Seat unit reclines, adjusts and footrest lengthens. I have had friends use it for a 3 yr old and it is lovely.

Handle is very comfy and adjusts to all different heights and positions too.

I think there is a like it/loathe it debate with any pram. There are prams that others love and I personally didn't like it or find it right for what I need and some that I like and others didn't get on with.

Mums will always need something to gossip about at the school gates!

mandykaden · 13/09/2008 18:54

im exactly the same, i love new prams i get bord easily and i change my pram about one-three a month to!
there is pleasure in it just like when people collect things!
ive had about 40 buggys! and my son is only 14 months!

Ripeberry · 13/09/2008 19:11

You have WAY too much time on your hands!
I've got a buggy in the garage it is over 5yrs old and i intend to use it for CM, if i can only work out how to get the cover off to wash it grrrr!

janeite · 13/09/2008 19:14

This is a very old thread BUT I felt I had to comment anyway:- Buying a new pram every month, or every couple of months, is hideously wasteful financially and environmentally irresponsible. They are built to last through several babies.

Absoloutely bloody ridiculous imho.

Portofino · 13/09/2008 19:23

Agree Janeite, couldn't be bothered to read it all but what is the point? I was offered a brand new travel system for £50 by someone who WAS a pram tester. It wasn't in the style I might have chosen, but it did what it said on the tin IFYWIM. When dd grew oout of the car seat I sold it and bought a mclaren buggy. We did actually buy a 2nd one, but only cos the first one was falling apart!

It is only 4.5 years since dd was born, but I can't believe the amount of poncey pushchairs that seem to have come on the market since then. Fair enough, you want the best for your dc, but posting on here about such a load of rubbish is frankly insulting to other mothers who maybe have to scrape and save to buy a pram at all. YABU.

janeite · 13/09/2008 19:36

Well said.

bloomingfedup · 13/09/2008 20:01

No wonder the other mums hardly speak to you. I love prams but you are barking. >>

yummymummy1405 · 13/09/2008 20:31

I am pram obsessd and wish i could try out lots of different ones infact i think i would start convos about it as for coming on 3 years now prams have been my number 1 accessory!!

Cappuccino · 13/09/2008 20:33

how did this potty thread get back into active conversations?

mandykaden · 14/09/2008 18:41

if you have money to waste, and you get pleasure out of it why not! also i sell all my old prams on !! some for more than i payed so therefore making money!
plus i prefer prams rather than clothes makeup etc!, and i like ALL my babys stuff to look new! prams that have been used for years look awful!anyway i think its up to us pramoholics what we want to spend our money on, as long as our babies are not going without whats the harm?
personally my little boy is spoilt rotten, he gets everything he wants and he always will.

mandykaden · 14/09/2008 18:45

also bloomingfedup the mums that dont speak to her just because she changes her pram are pathetic!!?!!? GROW UP!!

wotulookinat · 14/09/2008 19:00

I agree with Janeite, but I surely wouldn't use it as a reason to not talk to someone. Howver, bringing back up an old and boring thread is a reason not to talk to someone...

bloomingfedup · 14/09/2008 19:02

Mandy

Er, your kid does'nt want the pram - his crazy mother does. Thanks for your comments. saucer of milk heading your way.

I have a approaching a hundred pairs of shoes.

I still think myself of less of a twat than someone with a pram fixation.
