Since we have moved here there have been some issues with the neighbour.

Firstly she would reverse into our drive most days and her visitors would frequently park in our designated parking spaces.

We had to move the bins to stop this.

Now her living room window falls outside the parking spaces.
There is a bedding area under her window and today she came onto our property to start ripping out the plants.

We are unsure that this bedding area even belongs to her, I have had to call the HA to check - will call back as these are new builds.

Main principle is she shouldn't be coming onto our property at all.

I want to move my garden bow from the back and put it int front of her window to stop her coming onto the property.

We have never parked in her space, never even stepped foot on her property.

AIBU?

What is a garden bow please?

candaceswap · 07/03/2025 15:29

Sorry meant garden bin.

You need to check your property lease or deeds. It should clearly state if the bedding area is owned by you or her. It would also state if she has access rights across your parking spaces.
Check that first. If she is indeed trespassing and you do own the bed then you can write to her telling her that this is your property and ask her to cease damaging it.

MathsMum3 · 07/03/2025 15:42

Can we have a diagram please? Why does she need to be on your property to tend to the flower bed below her living room window?

candaceswap · 07/03/2025 15:53

@valder
Her living room window is underneath the bedding area and to access it she has to come onto my parking space.

I have raised it with the HA and they will call me back next to confirm but the lady did say she should be coming onto the property.

Reversing onto your drive briefly to turn her vehicle, or to park there?

candaceswap · 07/03/2025 15:55

She would reverse towards our living room window on a daily basis.

Her visitors would park there 4/5 times a week.

Definitely need a diagram.

To get to the flower bed is she walking across a parking space that’s separated from the rest of your property? Or walking across your driveway?

Is your driveway a ‘traditional driveway’/front garden set up? Or an allocated parking space that’s directly in front of your property?

Is this a typo? The flower bed is above her window, and you were told by HA that she should be coming onto your property?

valder · 07/03/2025 16:02

Sorry OP, the set up you are describing is very confusing - to me at least. Could you draw a simple diagram or explain it a little better, thanks.

Cattery · 07/03/2025 16:03

She’s coming onto your property to access a communal flowerbed?

candaceswap · 07/03/2025 16:12

Sorry for the confusion.
I will attempt to draw it in abit

So her footpath separates our parking spaces.

There is a flower bed under her living room window which basically leads to my parking spaces.

So she has come onto my parking space near my front door to start ripping plants out.

Sorry typo the customer service agent said she shouldn't have done that without checking.

The HA will have to check the boundary and call me next week to confirm.

So your driveway is in front of your living room window? And she's reversing all the way up there and parking? And her visitors are parking in your driveway or your spaces which are somewhere else? How long are they for and are they stopping you/your visitors from using your own driveway/designated spaces?
Agree with others, diagram would be helpful.

Isittimeformynapyet · 07/03/2025 16:26

Why is it a problem her stepping on your parking space to tend to the flower bed underneath her window?

Your choice of words is inflammatory - "ripping the plants out" could be removing them ready for bedding plants. It's strange to assume she's gardening for any reason other than to make it look nice.

I mean, you could have had a friendly chat with her and found out.

Are you a nice neighbour?

LoveWine123 · 07/03/2025 16:28

Why does it bother you that she is stepping onto your property once in a while to tend to her plants? I really wouldn’t mind that if my neighbours do it. Why is that an issue?

llovemermaidgin · 07/03/2025 16:32

It might just be me, but none is this is making much sense without a diagram.

llovemermaidgin · 07/03/2025 16:35

Meant to say putting a bin in front of her window won't achieve much as she could just move it. If someone was doing this to me I'd soon say something. But I would be polite to begin with then take it from there.
She sounds a bit cf with the parking though. I'd put a stop to that straight away.

candaceswap · 07/03/2025 16:51

It hasn't been confirmed if she does actually own that bit, the agent said it sounds as if it is my boundary as it's on my designated parking area.

I will try take a pic later - just out with DC atm.

And yes I am a nice neighbour, I just like my privacy.

OP posts:
Whyherewego · 07/03/2025 19:20

Well until you have details of the actual ownership it's impossible to say

Clearly she or visitors cannot park in your space. But using your space as a reversing space isn't a crime

You want privacy in your parking space, the same parking space that was located in front of someone else’s window when you bought or leased the house?

Honestly you sound a bit bonkers. Surely she is the one who would be impacted by lack of privacy if anything, as if you park head first, you’ll actually be looking into HER house.

Coka · 07/03/2025 20:11

So the issue is she walked on your parking space? Me and my neighbours reguarly walk/stand chatting on each others if they are empty.. I would never have thought of it as an issue.

candaceswap · 07/03/2025 20:47

I have drawn a diagram.

We never park in front of her window.
We all moved in the same time as these at are new builds.

The first time we viewed these houses was the same day we got the keys via HA and if we had declined we would have gone back down the list with the council.

The neighbour didn't just come onto the property she actually came by my front door and ripped out some plants.

How would she get to her bedding plants if she can’t stand on your drive way?
sorry, I may be confused but don’t know how she would otherwise do this , looks like a house design flaw.

candaceswap · 07/03/2025 20:53

It may be a flaw with the house and none of the other houses have this.

I will find out through the HA after they have checked the boundary and deeds.
