Have you looked at the Turn2Us website to see if you could get some benefits to help?

With respect OP, on a salary of £27k you are paying a minimal amount of income tax - perhaps a couple of hundred a month - so you're hardly funding other people's benefits. I would direct your anger towards how disgracefully low wages are in the UK, not child benefit recipients who are hardly rolling in it themselves.

This is how they want you to feel. Like those who have nothing are taking from those who have nothing. And those billionaires laugh at us. Not one of your problems is because someone got a little help that they ARE ENTITLED to. Shut your moaning.

Jumped the shark too early OP. I was with you until you came onto a parenting website to slag off people in receipt of Child Benefit.

Been trying to get an evening/weekend job but no luck been searching indeed is there anything you think I should do
@ForTwinklyMintSeal
I got myself a second job cleaning, I was cleaning a college in the evening but I'm now cleaning a B&Q store before they open, 6am start finish at 9 and then go of to my other job. It's giving me an extra £700 per month.

£27k isn’t a horrific salary IF you’re part of a 2 person household and the other person is also bringing in £27k, but as the only income for a household it will be tight.

I also don’t really understand your comments about child benefit. Those on higher incomes than you are also paying far more tax than you, so you could say they are paying for your GP, dentist, local police service, the roads you drive on…

But it's your taxes which pay for the NHS... sometimes to treat those wealthier than you...

Onlycoffee · 04/03/2025 15:16

People are trying to help you op. No need to be rude as well as miserable.

Movinghouseatlast · 04/03/2025 15:16

Something you coukd do is get a cleaning job on a Saturday or Sunday, privately in a house. £20 an hour that's £80 a week extra.

People are desperate for good cleaners.
