To ask you to show me your bathrooms?

I'm thinking of updating my bathroom but could so with some real life inspo rather than magazine images of bathrooms that are larger than my entire upstairs.

Would anyone oblige me by sharing some pictures of what they've had done recently?

And more importantly any pitfalls of current trends that you'd now advise against? My bathroom is now at least 15 years old so definitely behind the times.

Here’s ours - there’s a big mirror over the towel rail now as well. Tiles v similar to yours @Moanyoldcow but a shade darker!

Agree it’s v hard to find small bathroom inspiration- all the places I looked had “small” bathrooms that would have been huge for us!

Do you mind saying where you bought your green tiles? I love them. We're planning a new bathroom and still unsure about the tiles. What tiles do you have on the floor too? Thanks Smile

@Incaseofouting I agree about under floor heating if you can manage it. Our (tiny) family bathroom isn't too bad as it has rooms on either side of it but our en suite is on the corner of the house and is freezing! Neither of those have under floor heating as they were both done before we had any money. We did the downstairs shower room/utility later when we were spending a lot of money on the kitchen and did have underfloor heating put in there and it is the nicest room in the house to have a shower in when it's really cold.

To add to my post up thread OP.
If you bathroom is small, having the door open out into the hallway will save you 1m2 of floor space! Its also a safer option if anyone even collapses on the other side of the door. Yes, I work in healthcare, but recommend it for family homes too!

No problem at all! The tiles are these: Gemini titan ocean. I’d say the colour in the photo I shared is a little more true than the pics on this website - they look less greeny blue on the website but in real life they’re sort of teal blue.

And the flooring is this click LVT (luxury vinyl tiles) :

I really like it, looks v plain and simple but a nice warm stone effect colour.

Here’s another tile pic

Thanks so much @Talipesmum. I'm showing DH and I think we might well copy you. The whole look is so calm and clean. Just what I like: unfussy.

Ah lovely! Happy to help. Taps are Vado photon for the full look!

When we had our new bathroom in 2017, it only became apparent 4 years later that a blunder was made. The fitters had put in the loo then tiled the floor afterwards. When we had a leak in 2021, the loo couldn’t be pulled out to correct the leak because of the tiling blocking it in. We got it corrected in the end but not without a few weeks of bucket flushing and a new loo and tiling to boot. I would say do the floor first then get the loo put in after.

HairyToity · 09/03/2025 07:16

We kept a simple colour scheme (white brick bond tiles, grey sink vanity unit and painted walls pink), click flooring (warmer under foot), and chrome fittings. We like it, and everyone always says how lovely it is. Managed to come in on budget too.

Our plumber advised us not to have a concealed shower unit as it is harder to change, if it breaks.

I had been looking at black matte taps and wondered if they'd be difficult to clean...

Is it watermarks in general on the black?

Don't do black fittings. They're already dated. Just do classic silver.

Phineyj · 09/03/2025 09:40

Love mine! The "tiles" are actually vinyl.

The best bit is the cheapest - the shower curtain.

Ignore the mess please. DD collects skin care. The under sink stool is for that but she's taken the light up mirror to her bedroom with the auxiliary skincare.

No, we've had it installed for a year now and it's been easy to keep clean and it doesn't gather much dust. I think installing the tiles so the wavy pattern flows vertically help to avoid dust collecting along the waves compared to if we installed horizontally.

Can I ask where you got the wavy tiles from. They look great x

Thanks, we got them from Porcelansa, it's a Spanish tile company with a presence in Chicago where we currently live but I see they also have stores and dealerships in the UK.

We also got a good deal of about 50% off at their annual sale back in November.

Thank you and while I’d not heard of them before they do have a store in my nearest city 😀

Just had our shower room done. Our tiler/handyman recommended chrome taps too instead of black taps/fitments. He had black in his bathroom as his wife wanted them for the style and it drives them both crazy now as stains easily. He talked me out of getting black and it actually made me change my whole scheme and now I love it and I'm glad he did that!

We redid our bathroom last year. We had a Toto installed (just a basic one) and marble tiles.
