To ask how much you'd spend on a hotel?

I'm happy with a Premier Inn tbh. For a treat (maybe twice a year at most) I'd spend up to £100, and that might be something with a spa or definitely with breakfast included.
I've just seen that a friend of mine spent £750 on a night's stay at a top rated hotel with a Michelin Starred restaurant.
I'm sure it was very nice, but £750!! I could go to New York for that price.
Obviously it'll depend on income and leftover money, but just curious to see.

I usually stay in a premier inn (or similar - maybe a notch higher sometimes) as it is just a place to sleep and not the main event (going to a gig/show/visiting family) - sometimes need to spend up to £200/night per room on that but if visiting family more like £50/night as less expensive location rather than London.

The big problem now is that DH is a snorer and I am a light sleeper. We both have a horrible nights sleep together - so now book two rooms everywhere we go (connecting if available). I would love to have a lovely weekend in a nice country hotel or something but not at double the cost. We really ought to put more effort into sorting out this problem - it has certainly curbed where we go a bit. We would spend up to £500/night I think if we only had to get one room...

Premier Inns in London can be over £200 a night in the week.

BigDahliaFan · 01/03/2025 16:42

We stay in London a lot and a basic premier inn hub can be 280 easily for the night. pre covid id have spent £300 on a nice Principal hotel, now they are 600....and I balk at that. I do like a nice hotel but mostly I prize quietness which is why I like premier inns.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 01/03/2025 16:43

For my first weekend with my then partner, we spent $1500 for a 2 night stay in Brisbane...worth every penny

Boomer55 · 01/03/2025 16:44

Depends whst it’s for. Convenience - a Premier Inn. For luxury, spoiling etc a lot more. 🤷‍♀️

Donotwantnot · 01/03/2025 16:45

Usually around 300-400 per night

fivegreenmonkeys · 01/03/2025 16:47

We stayed at the BoTree in London during Christmas/NY, which was quite expensive. Breakfast not included which is crappy. We decided to pay for it, but was not worth the money so went elsewhere. Which is a pity as I love a really nice hotel breakfast. Their beds were pure heaven though and I did not hear a single noise during any of the nights. Nothing. Never slept so well.

But yes, we do spend a lot on nice hotels.

As someone who has stayed at Raffles and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, the answer is quite a lot!

It’s worth it.

I'm a fancy holiday sort of person so I'll spend a fortune on the right room 😂 have spent into 4 figures before, but to me it's worth it. We spend a lot on our holidays because we want total luxury, so I'm happy to throw money at the hotel part!

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 01/03/2025 17:01

I was at a premier inn in the south coast last week and it was £135. Travelodge come in a bit cheaper but I haven't had good experiences with them.

For a special occasion one off I'd probably go up to 1k if dinner and breakfast were included.

Family holiday we tent to budget £150 ish ppn pn. We need two rooms now the kids are older.

icebearforpresident · 01/03/2025 17:03

If it’s for me, my husband and 2 kids then I’m booking the cheapest premier inn I can find. If it’s just me and DH we’ll usually get something nice for under £150. A friend of ours travels a lot and is a member of every hotel loyalty scheme going so we usually ask him and he’ll get us a deal - usually an executive/premier room which has lounge access (and therefore free drinks) for less money than we could book a standard room on our own.

rumblegrumble · 01/03/2025 17:10

Hugely depends on what, why and where. I'm happy with anything from hostels to 5-star pool villas for £1,000+ a night, often in the same trip. I've gone off Premier Inns though as I don't like the new bed, which is annoying as I used to use them a lot. Now if I just need a basic overnight in the UK, I usually go to a pub for £60-£80. If I want a relaxing spa weekend, it could be over ten times that.

Jade520 · 01/03/2025 17:11

Where do you go to pay £100 a night and get a spa and breakfast? Round here a Premier Inn is £70 at it's very cheapest and often nearer £100.

I'm not really interested in hotels and hate any kind of service, to me they're just somewhere to sleep when I'm not out doing more interesting stuff. Abroad I always try to keep it under £100 a night and get an apartment to keep food costs down as well. We go on holiday between 5 and 7 times a year though and do it with cheap flights, cheap accommodation and keeping food costs down a bit.

Dairymilkisminging · 01/03/2025 17:14

I'm staying at a PI tomorrow for £24. I always get the cheapest I wouldn't even pay £100 for one night

FriendlyEeyore · 01/03/2025 17:16

How are you finding hotels as such a good rate? I’m looking for something in Edinburgh city centre next month and £250+ per night seems to be the going rate.

Didntask · 01/03/2025 17:19

Depends. If it's for a stopover etc, PI is fine by me. If the hotel is part of the break/getaway, we'd pay maybe upto £500 a night, but that would hopefully be some sort of suite.

Mnetcurious · 01/03/2025 17:21

Family room at a premier inn will do just fine for us when it’s purely functional, eg somewhere to stay when we travel to attend a wedding or the night before catching the ferry/plane. £600+ for a night away somewhere truly luxurious eg as a special 50th birthday celebration, also yes as it’s affordable for us (occasionally).

I’m staying at the Voco on Royal Terrace in a couple of weeks and got a premium room for £116. It’s a Wednesday night though, guessing a weekend would be more expensive.

cramptramp · 01/03/2025 17:23

I don't mind a premier inn and we are booked into a hotel later on this year that costs £75, but we have spent a lot more than that staying in 5 star hotels. I COULD have a week's holiday for £750 but while we can afford it, we spend more than that on holidays. I love a luxury hotel.

Suzuki76 · 01/03/2025 17:23

Premier Inns are minimum £80 when I need them. I did manage a £30 Travelodge last year at Birmingham airport.

But if I'm going away to a hotel, I will splash out. We spent £1k for 2 nights at the Scarlet in Cornwall last year.

Youbutterbelieve · 01/03/2025 17:36

Depends really. Back in December I spent £1100 on a night in a hotel but that included a meal and drinks at a 3 Michelin star restaurant. It was worth it.

If I was going abroad for a week I would spend considerably less and spend more money on experiences in the country I was visiting.

MuggleMe · 01/03/2025 17:38

I spend up to £200 a night in order to get somewhere really convenient. It's nice to be able to be in the middle of everything and pop back for an hour's rest if needed.

Amperoblue · 01/03/2025 17:39

I like a bargain so what I would spend depends on what its cost normally. I persuaded my 2nd favourite hotel to give me a room for £350 a night that is normally £600 (my 50th) but then Covid hit and mucked that up for 2 years. Room had a (proper) private pool and everything. Determined to go back and stay in that room rather than our normal cheapo options

BCBird · 01/03/2025 17:41

I'm a Premier inn fan too.. Beds suit my back
