To find people's Holiday snaps so tedious?

Don't get me wrong - I'm happy for people and I like to see a few key snaps of special moments and know that people are having a good time. But do we need to see every moment?

They're bad enough when people put them on Facebook but at least you can scroll past them. Or just click on a few.

A beloved family member is now retired and is doing a lot of travelling. The last few times she went somewhere, she's absolutely flooded the family group whatsapp chat with endless pictures. I counted a total of over 500 in the 10 days she was away. I'm not exaggerating. Ding ding ding ding. It's not like I could even mute the group because it's a family chat and I might miss something.

Now she's travelling round Australia for 3 weeks and she's set up a separate whatsapp group just to share her pictures. She's added everyone she knows. There are HUNDREDS of pictures, daily. Everywhere she goes, everything she sees, everything she notices on the streets, her room, her on the plane, her on a train, her in a car, and a picture of EVERY SINGLE MEAL SHE EATS!! and loads of comments from people I don't know.

I muted the group on day 1 and pop in now and then to make a comment so she doesn't think we're ignoring her.

Am I being an old misery or are holiday snaps just so boring? I love this person dearly but I do not care about every minute of her Holiday.

The only time it’s good is if it is somewhere you have been, or want to go. Then it can be interesting or useful.

I like seeing people's holiday pictures but anyone who added me to a group chat to show off their entire holiday would be getting muted. That's your issue here - she's batshit.

I have been known to reply "No Thanks" in the past when asked if I'd like to see some holiday photos.

I just delete pics sent via WhatsApp as I see each one briefly before hitting the bin icon.

This is very lower class activity. It's the same on Facebook and Instagram. It's always the chavs who post everything they've ever eaten and every place they've ever been because they think it shows what a wonderful and sophisticated life they are leading. Ooo look at me I went to this restaurant that was once fashionable but I can now get a table at and had a cocktail.

In fact it's the people who do this all the time who are never posting about it who actually lead these sort of lives and are too busy leading their lives to photograph and post about it obsessively.

I've always thought this about dinner pics.

People who actually cook nice food regularly never post dinner pics. It's just the people who occasionally have a decent dinner that post, because it's a novelty to them.
