To think that manifestation works?

I'd love to hear your experiences if so!
I'd dearly love a life partner . I am 50 and divorced. I am setting intentions and doing all the recommended work .
I've had great success manifesting small sums in f money and good health outcomes so I'm just wondering 💭 f it's unreasonable to think it is absolutely a thing or just coincidental sillyness

I'll join you in manifesting a partner, one for me and one for you!

Newname85 · 16/02/2025 21:24

That’s intersting! How did you manifest money!? You just wished for it ??

Birdwordie · 16/02/2025 21:27

I can't categorically say if it's real or not but I've done it a great deal sometimes unintentionally. Every year for example I do a vision board and for the last few years I've achieved everything on there. I haven't actively sought out a partner through manifesting but I feel if you put in you'll get out, so if you're actively putting out the feelers for a new partner and hold your values I can't see why you couldn't get an ideal partner! Good luck, you can't fail by trying x x

Thirteenblackcat · 16/02/2025 21:27

I did think it was nonsense but my husband believes in it and has been successful recently in a business venture which he has put down to manifestation. I think it was down to bloody hard work and positive thinking though

HermioneWeasley · 16/02/2025 21:27

it “Works” in the sense that if you focus on things and tell lots of people you want something then it is more likely to happen because you’re putting effort into it.

but wishes/prayers/manifesting don’t work beyond that

ChancesAreLow · 16/02/2025 21:28

You have to actively work towards things you want, not just expect.

But it's a good way to focus on goals.

OrNo · 16/02/2025 21:28

Sort of yes. But you can't just wish for something and sit back. You have to make it happen.

So in your example, someone invites you to the theatre. You're not that fussed about it but you don't have any other plans. You manifest that the night will introduce you to someone new. You then look out for the opportunity whilst you're there.

Now I'm not saying it's 100% successful 100% of the time. But put yourself in situations where you might meet someone like minded by saying yes to opportunities.

I met DH by doing a course that as it turns out is not really anything to do with what we do for a living. But right place right time.

I wrote down a sum of money that I wanted to be in my bank account by Christmas. I did this in September . It happened. I won small sums and I've never won a thing my life. Opportunities have since arisen to add to my salary.

These opportunities have always been there but I never gave them a second thought. Now that i have , I'm earning an additional 15% of my weekly salary doing something really worthwhile and in a role I love . Lots of work opportunities have opened up for me since and I'm earning an excellent side cash income.

@Thirteenblackcat is right I think - if you believe in manifesting then you're actually stating what you want and thinking about ways to work towards it, so you're more likely to actually achieve that thing. It's like a psychological placebo.

Which in itself is a type of manifestation. Call it that or call it what you did (or both) and you'll see that he made it happen.

Yes, very proud of him. We’ve had some tough times recently so to get through that and some out with this success is incredible

Emotionalsupporthamster · 16/02/2025 21:35

It’s a powerful mix of goal directed behaviour and confirmation bias, that’s all. Which is great if it gives you focus, but the universe really doesn’t give a shit about what any
of us want.

So manifest 100 times that amount of money in your account. Why won't that work? Because you know that's not achievable. If you can only manifest things that are only possible anyway, then it's not so mysterious is it.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 16/02/2025 21:46

I think it works ~ but not in the way some people talk about, all 'make a wish and watch it come true.'

I'm manifesting making a certain amount from my side hustle this year. But I'm also working bloody hard at making it happen 😂

DorothyStorm · 16/02/2025 21:49

My dog is excellent at it. He stares at the treat cupboard, doesn't not flinch, until someone opens it and gives him a treat. Works every time for him.

LilacLilias · 16/02/2025 21:51

I think it works in the sense that if focuses the mind and helps you believe in your goal which probably alters your behaviour towards achieving that goal. You making extra money from opportunities that existed but you had not given thought to previously is a good example. Having decided you would make the sum of money, you took notice of those opportunities as they aligned with what you were aiming to bring into being.

CraftyNavySeal · 16/02/2025 21:53

Has a starving person ever manifested food? Or an amputee manifested their limb back?

Why does it only seem to work on things that are fairly likely to happen anyway?

colloidial · 16/02/2025 21:54

So
How would that work if I were to try to manifest a partner?

colloidial · 16/02/2025 21:54

Sorry that was for @LilacLilias !

This is not 'manifestation'. It is deciding to get a second job. What changed is you decided to do it. Nothing magical.

Bettyboop2530 · 16/02/2025 21:59

I manifested buying our first house and having a healthy baby - both happened in the same year!

I obviously had to still work for the house but no emergencies happened that I had to pay out for so was able to save my deposit nicely and we got a steal of a house for 75k (that needed work but was liveable) in May 2021! My beautiful baby boy was born in the September ☺️

Currently manifesting for my son's medication to work and for him to thrive so will see how that goes. Also manifesting for a 6 figure lottery win this year 🤷🏼‍♀️

Isn’t ’hard work and positive thinking,’ exactly what manifesting is?

Happyhappyeveryday · 16/02/2025 23:01

Surely, manifestation is gratitude, clear goals, seeing opportunities and working towards them.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 16/02/2025 23:01

Yes but only if it’s a realistic one. eg I will take a packed lunch to work or I will try to save at least £10 / 10p a month. Manifesting you will be a millionaire this time next year? not so much Del Boy

catin8oots · 16/02/2025 23:02

Has this peer reviewed study looked into people that manifested with an unfavourable outcome?
