To get my tubes tied?

Looking for a bit of advice from people who have undergone the procedure.
Personally feel like family is complete with DS2 on the way in the next couple of months.
But considering tying the tubes as

Had little to no support during pregnancy from partner/ extended family.
Getting on age wise
House is a bit of a squash and a squeeze
various health issues that need focusing on (overweight etc)

On the flip side love kids and always wanted a larger family.
Financially able to support having more kids.

anyway would be good to hear from others who have considered the procedure or had it done.

YABU : don’t do it, it’s irreversible and you’ll regret it if you change your mind.
YANBU : you’ve done your time enjoy life, focus on your health and the family you have/ will have.

(other forms of contraception haven’t really worked well for various reasons - hence considering this option at the moment)

Shocking to hear so many stories about the baby bleeding and early menopause. I suppose the other alternative for me to consider was the IUD in the arm. Just didn’t want to take any risks between giving birth and the time taken to get the implant.

fyi - had the coil had to remove as really messed me up and condoms are a faff, so no really interested.

given my health was trying to avoid anything hormonal

My reasoning is a bit different as I have no children. But I had a bilateral total salpingectomy (both tubes totally removed) almost 12 months ago. I'm in Australia and that was my surgeons preferred method (as tube tying can sometimes fail). I was at the hospital at 6.30am, surgery at 9am and was picked up at 12pm. I have a very physical job so I was off work for 2 weeks, but recovery was fairly easy going, I was regularly up and walking around. Couldn't lift anything above about 5kg for my recovery time though.

Had it done at 40, took it out of me more than expected and had about five days in bed. Very swollen up. Took a second week off as my head was very foggy from the op.
no regrets as the contraception worries are over, but I am now at 42 having bloods etc for peri symptoms and after reading this thread I am curious about the connection

Why are you having sex with your partner if they're 'of little to no support' with your children? I'd be getting a divorce rather than sterilised
