*Verruca picture* To think I can get rid of this verruca with over the counter treatment?

Is this bad? It's been there for years now. I've inconsistently tried a few things but it's on the ball of my foot and becoming painful now. Does anyone know if this is a bad one or not? I think it's formed a hard layer of skin around it because of the pressure of standing on it hence the pain. Blush I am embarrassed by this, please don't judge! I think it came from having a weakened immune system at certain stages in my life. X

No judgement from me. Verrucas are vile and nothing to do with cleanliness.
I got rid of one after 3 weeks. I was so strict with it but I was determined. Made my foot sore but worth it.

Balloonhearts · 26/01/2025 23:57

If you cut the top off it first, probably.

13Ghosts · 26/01/2025 23:57

Thuja Tincture applied strictly daily. Should be gone in 3 weeks.

ToffeePennie · 26/01/2025 23:57

Call a local Foot Health Practitoner. You need a caustic pencil (preferably 95% silver nitrate) on that and the top scraping off. However long you have had, it can take that long to get rid of.
boost your immune system too!! They “regenerate” every 4 weeks or so; which is why they’re so hard to remove.

SlB09 · 26/01/2025 23:59

Definitely, we've just managed this with my son's foot, he had about 12 altogether on a big lump on the pad of his big toe. About four rounds of bazuka then soaking in the bath and filing down the thick skin/picking out the verruca and it's all gone and back to normal skin now, you would never know. You just need to be persistent and consistant

2025ohdear · 27/01/2025 00:02

Get it lasered.

I've learnt from experience it's the only thing that works and it's quick, efficient and no mess.

Daisymay2 · 27/01/2025 00:06

I had one similar and treated it with the freezing spray. However the hard skin around it had to be treated with Flexitol for quite a while.

Moveoverdarlin · 27/01/2025 00:13

My children get them and they are much worse than that ‘extra strength bazooka’ works well, but it’s strong stuff. It would get rid of that in a few weeks.

CrotchetyQuaver · 27/01/2025 00:20

Oh yes you can shift that, I did a corker just as big as that in lockdown, it became one of my little projects. I did have to go back for a second attempt as the first time I must have stopped too early and it started growing back, but it's gone for good now. I think I'd been trying on and off for 16 years to get rid of it. I used salicylic acid, the strongest I could get hold of in a tube like ointment comes in, covered it up with a plaster, then one of those pressure relieving plasters like corn plasters on top because it was sore. I think every other day I'd have a dig then use the scholl roller file pedicure thingy. It took months but finally killed it!

Namechanged4obviousreasons · 27/01/2025 00:25

File the top with a nail file, soak in hot water and then when totally dry but still having warm, softened skin, apply some thick parcel tape or carpet tape. Leave for a couple of days (unless coming unstuck and then replace sooner). Repeat the filing and soaking before taping again. You’ll eventually see a black thing on the tape where it has come out. It should only take a week or two. I’ve done this with my children and never had to resort to using chemicals.

Needspaceforlego · 27/01/2025 00:30

Go to the podiatrist and get it dry needled.

It's not a weakend immune system, it's just flying under the radar. You immune system doesn't know its there.
It needs to be pushed a little deeper into the skin. Then you immune system will kick it out! Fairly painless and I'd done everything from bazooka to duct tape.

Hiiiiiiixxxx · 27/01/2025 00:33

I used to have one really bad about 10 years ago. I tried everything, freezing it, the medication for it and it didn't budge. I don't recommend this but in the end when it was hard I took the top off using Tweezers and kept doing it everytime it went hard until it eventually went. It didn't hurt as much as it sounded doing it this way, however towards the end when hardly any was left it was painful to walk on. I kept pulling the black bits inside off too which seemed to speed up the process. I thankfully haven't had any since.

CrowleyKitten · 27/01/2025 00:37

honestly, it's hard to say. worth trying them, certainly.
my feet used to be absolutely covered with verrucas. after a bath, they looked like the surface of the moon, and were often painful. I tried absolutely everything.
nothing worked.
then one day, after many years suffering with them, I got out of a bath, was drying my feet, and suddenly realised they were ALL GONE.
so weird.

treatments work for some and not others. in my case, boom. one day they were no more. very weird

FatFilledTrottyPuss · 27/01/2025 00:39

My husband got rid of one much worse than that recently by taping it up like @Namechanged4obviousreasons says. It was like the stump of a tree growing out of the bottom of his foot but 6 months of tape later you’d never know it had ever been there. Definitely try duct tape or something before painful chemicals

MrsJHernandez · 27/01/2025 00:40

No judgement here! Had loads as a kid. I had about 20 on the side of one big toe. Were there for years. Various OTC treatments, Dr freezing them, digging at them. Nothing worked. I think they just went away on their own in the end and I've never had another one.

I did however manage to dig at a few on the ball of my foot which got rid of them. I think persistence is key. If you can't bare to dig out the "root" yourself, speak to the pharmacist and try OTC treatments and if that doesn't work, then go see your Dr.

Lettucepray1 · 27/01/2025 00:48

I dug one out myself when I was about 15. It hurt, but it was satisfying too. Never got another one after that.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 27/01/2025 00:52

I had one like that for decades! I had no idea what it was! Also had mosaic veruccas. Like PP say, you must be consistent and persistent. I used a high strength treatment, daily filing and also took thuja capsules. Gone in about two months, never to return.

Emma6cat · 27/01/2025 00:56

Bazuka will sort it in around 2 weeks

allhailthebrain · 27/01/2025 00:57

Veruccas are annoying! My son was on the list for freezing treatment for ages and they disappeared just as he got to the top of the list!
The only thing that's ever worked here was simple black duct tape - just cut a big enough square and place it over. If it comes off, replace. I found that worked each time - one I only had the tape on there a week, and forgot to replace. It still disappeared afterwards!
One my daughter had I really thought we had managed a different way, it came out and left a perfect bullet hole behind (was on the side just above her heel). I thought there was no way... still came back! Back to the tape...

Whotenanny · 27/01/2025 00:57

After years of veruccas on both feet, I'd had enough. Over about two weeks I cut them out with nail scissors, and tweezered out the funny black bits. It's been twenty odd years since then and they've never come back 😌

HP07 · 27/01/2025 02:08

Bazooka sub zero was the only thing that worked for a big verucca on my son’s foot. We tried lots of different things.

PrincessOfPreschool · 27/01/2025 02:45

I used the bazooka and then filed off the dry bit with a foot file (for dry skin on foot, but like a grater). Eventually got to a big black bit. Kept drying it out and filing till the black all gone. It's so satisfying, I kind of miss it.

doodahdayy · 27/01/2025 02:51

I had a huge one for almost 10 years. Nothing got rid of it and it died on its own. I have one now and the podiatrist keeps removing it but it grows back. I expect that will die of its own accord one day

Cookerhood · 27/01/2025 03:20

They will only go when your immune system recognises them. Sometimes picking at them, treating them, etc make your immune system attack them.
I had a terrible one on my foot for years (worse than yours) & tried everything. Nothing helped. Then one day it vanished, never to return.

Pomegranatecarnage · 27/01/2025 03:34

I got rid of one worse than that (actually there were several). The best tool was a medical scalpel. Soak your feet in hot water, mouthwash, and bicarbonate of soda every evening and use a pumice stone or file to get rid of the dry skin. Apply bazooka then the next morning use a scalpel carefully to cut off the dead skin.
