What does your thermostat read?

14 degrees currently. Georgian flat in Scotland. Dehumidifier sitting at 45, meaning that the humidity isn't too high. I don't actually feel too cold, thanks to my Oodie, but have just popped the heating on for a couple of hours anyway.
Exciting Sunday night chat, while I put off the chores for a bit longer Grin

17/18° but my thermostat is in the coldest part of the house so the living room/bedrooms are always warmer than that. I'd say probably 20ish.

Good point. My living room is very large and the coldest room by far.

I don't have one 🤷‍♀️ been in this house for about 14 years and never worked that one out.......heating either on or off!

Fluffy40 · 26/01/2025 20:21

Set to 18 in the hall but temp in lounge is 21 or I get grumpy

Fair enough! To be honest, it was the same with my old heating system.

Right, I've procrastinated long enough. Time to crack on with the Sunday night stuff 😩

Does it really? Well that is a great argument to present to DH then when he'd rather have heating off completely! Thanks 👌

We wrestled over control of thermostat earlier, I won. Currently it's a balmy 16.5 in our bedroom (slightly warmer in the toddlers room).

It's on a few different settings. 18 during the day until the sun goes down and then it's on 18.5. If i come in from work and feel cold and tired I'll boost it to 19 for a bit. I like a toasty house as much as anyone but i'd rather just wear proper woollen jumper layers otherwise others in the house who don't feel the cold just get sweaty. I sometimes put the electric fire on fire on in the living room for half an hour and that really warms up the room fast when the door is shut.

At 10pm it's set to 13.5 degrees. It very very rarely comes on ever overnight.

curtaintwitcher78 · 26/01/2025 20:37

22°C

aintnospringchicken · 26/01/2025 20:38

Ours is 19,which is ample for me.DH would have it higher.

mindutopia · 26/01/2025 20:38

13.5C is the actual temperature at the moment. It’s realistically probably a bit warmer than that in most parts of the house, maybe 14-15C. Old farmhouse, we don’t keep it warm as neither of us like a boiling house and dc know to wear jumpers. Wood burner in kitchen going on especially cold nights. We don’t have it set to a particular temperature. We did try it at 18c for a month or so, but decided we felt cooked alive at that temperature 😂 so now just turn it on as needed.

ByMerryKoala · 26/01/2025 20:39

Nothing high brow, just Jack Reacher novels

It's at 20.8c.

MumChp · 26/01/2025 20:39

20C.
I was raised in a Scandinavian country there 20-22C is considered normal indoor 24/7.

festivemouse · 26/01/2025 20:39

22•c 😂

I turn it on upstairs when I get up and off at night (doesn't really drop below 19 ish depending on the outside weather) and downstairs is turned up to 22 ish during the day and down to 19 at night. Feels lovely and toasty even in the wind!

MagsMagnolia · 26/01/2025 20:40

16 usually but will go up to 18 if needed. Open fire in living room but HATE being too hot and always sleep with the window open 😄

weegiemum · 26/01/2025 20:41

Nothing. We're in a holiday cottage for the weekend in Argyll and haven't had any power since lunchtime on Friday. Sitting by candlelight glad the 4G is working, having charged our phones in the car and snuggled together under a fluffy blanket!

Scutterbug · 26/01/2025 20:43

18 in the day - 6am - 11pm

off overnight

rainythursdayontheavenue · 26/01/2025 20:44

Ours is reading 19.6c. We're on bulk LPG and given a tank now costs around £1200 it's set to maximum 20c. We've got a woodburner for the living room that we use if it's less than freezing outside.

We set to maximum 18c during the day when we're at work then raise to 20c when we're home. House rarely feels cold and it's never on overnight. Haven't done that since we had babies/toddlers.

EmmaMaria · 26/01/2025 20:47

19 from 6:45 - 8:15 am & 17:30 - 21:30 Hardly ever on otherwise except for the very coldest of days - maybe 4 times so far this winter. House holds at about 16 degrees during the day, a bit less at night (but I am tucked up in bed so who cares?)

OchonAgusOchonOh · 26/01/2025 20:48

Currently 8 degrees 😫

Still don't have electricity or water or mobile signal since the storm on Friday. They're currently estimating out will take another 10 days.

Oh you poor thing. Are you in Scotland?

tobee · 26/01/2025 20:50

18 but the heating had just gone off. I'm just in a T shirt but everyone else has jumpers on. I'm still hot from cooking dinner where I had lots of pans boiling and the oven on

InDogweRust · 26/01/2025 20:51

Its programmed for 19 during the day, lower at night. I sometimes find if sat working i need it a bit warmer and put it to 20.

AlpacaMittens · 26/01/2025 20:51

17.5 pretty much constantly, I whack it to 18.5 when I feel cold. Max 17 when we're off to bed although I'd prefer it off completely, but the baby (elderly cat) likes sleeping in front of the radiator ❤️

NormasArse · 26/01/2025 20:52

We have thermostat wars here. I like it at 26; DH prefers 18. Those two degrees make a difference!

dothehokeycokey · 26/01/2025 20:53

Set at 18 in general and then during the afternoon early evening I turn it upto 21 to warm us up more.

I turn it bak down to 18 when we go to bed but the radiators upstairs are only ever on really low as I hate a hot bedroom so bedrooms are probably more 15-16 which I prefer.
