Why forward an email

HappyRobin · 22/01/2025 21:02

I have just found out that my boyfriend has sent his ex after 3 years an email regarding warranty! WHY! After three years….. she will not talk to him or entertain him so why would he forward her an email about something that doesn’t even matter? I would have just deleted it if it was an email about my ex!
I only found out as she sent him a message back saying don’t contact her!

He can't let go of her and needs some way to have control / contact over the situation.

What is the warranty? I got a product recall message today for a bed I bought 3 years ago I’d have forwarded it if it had been for someone else

Ginkypig · 22/01/2025 21:19

Well that would be a red flag to me to be honest.

he is contacting a woman who has made it clear she wants nothing to do with him 3 YEARS AFTER THE RELATIONSHIP HAS ENDED and using a flimsy example to cover an explanation for it.

the only way that it would be ok is if the warranty is very important for a very expensive product that would be impossible to be able to afford to replace or repair without it but even then I’m really stretching things here to fit it into ok.

fingertraps · 22/01/2025 21:20

What was the warranty for?

Nope, I saw two messages back saying don’t contact her

This is a red flag. What did he tell you about their break up?

Edited

I really don’t think it was important enough - might have been a washing machine

Dump him, he was obviously just using it as a way to make some contact with her in the hope she would strike up a conversation with him which could then possibly have gone further
He is looking to cheat on you

Dishwashersaurous · 22/01/2025 21:37

Completely depends on what it was about.

Say it was for a fridge /washing machine/ cooker that he bought when they were living together.

Then he gets an email saying the warranty is due to expire, and forwards it to the person who now owns the washing machine/ fridge, so they are aware.

Nothing strange, odd or suspicious about it.

However, the fact that you seem to jump straight to suspicious suggests your relationship isn't in the greatest place to start with.

So by hiding it from me isn’t suspicious?
she has made it clear that he is not to communicate with her at all, so why push that boundary?
my ex and I ended amicably and we had a house to sell…. I wouldn’t dream of sending him an expired warranty for a fridge or anything as it’s several years ago! If she was that worried about it, she would have had it transferred to her own name

I don't understand the angst. What's the background here? Does it matter if he emails a warranty? If I received an email about something an ex owns I would forward it.

ColinOfficeTrolley · 22/01/2025 21:51

The biggest red flag here is the bloke you're with!!

DO NOT CONTACT ME AGAIN after 3 years.

What did he do? Why did he say they broke up?

Dishwashersaurous · 22/01/2025 21:58

But why not send on the warranty. Its hardly love poetry.

I really don't think it's a big deal

Poppyseeds79 · 22/01/2025 22:15

He's either...
A bit dense
Did it as an autopilot response
Is desperately trying to reopen communication

UnicornWorld · 22/01/2025 22:18

Why are you reading his messages? Do you question his evrry move as intensely as you do on here?

Sorry OP but he needs to run. Fast.

Dishwashersaurous · 22/01/2025 22:18

And why would he need to mention it to you.
He forwarded a warranty, didn't suggest drinks and dinner

Maybe she doesn't want to speak to him, maybe she's moved on, or maybe she's aware that OP is on the case! Your reaction is a bit odd.

He didn't. She went through his messages.

DinosaurMunch · 22/01/2025 22:21

What a weird thread. The biggest red flag is the OP obsessing about this. Why does it matter if he contacts his ex? All of mine still come for dinner a couple of times a year. It's normal, it doesn't mean they're still after me

KrisAkabusi · 22/01/2025 22:30

Absolutely batshit! I can't think of anything less likely to be a sign of cheating than an email about a warranty.

JoannaGroats · 22/01/2025 22:33

I only found out as she sent him a message back saying don’t contact her!

How do you know this? Especially when you later say:

So by hiding it from me isn’t suspicious?

I'm also getting red flags here - but not from your partner.

I have my own theory on why this girl doesn't want to be anywhere near OPs bf.

Marble10 · 22/01/2025 22:40

I'd take it as a desperate attempt to regain contact. Or atleast dip his toes in to see if she will reply.
It really is going out of his way to do that IMO.
My ex wouldn't dream of forwarding me anything even if it was relevant, he'd just skip over it and delete. Same as my current partner to his ex. Unless I'm just with inattentive men 🤷‍♀️
