Food for three year old's party - have I forgotten anything?

Sandwiches
Breadsticks
Party rings
Pom bear
Veggie straws
Home made cupcakes plain

Apple juice
Orange juice
Water

Melon
Watermelon
Blueberries
Cucumber
Red pepper
Carrot sticks

Birthday cake to take home.

Guessing this is ok? Have I missed anything glaringly obvious?

Maybe leave the fruit out…

mini cucumbers maybe yes but it’s a party, you don’t need to put healthy stuff out to make yourself look like a responsible parent.

I have to say I'm not getting the hate for fruit. We had pineapple, blueberries, strawberries, grapes and oranges. I only had pineapple left. Party three weeks later had a similar platter and even the pineapple went. Same for cucumber, carrots and to a lesser extent peppers.

I'm confused by the fruit hate too.

Wouldn't bother with the blueberries. No one has time to cut that much fruit in half.

It's very middle class! Round our way there is very little veg and fruit and what there is doesn't get eaten. Out kids prefer chcolate, crisps and jam sandiwches!

But is that cos no one puts it out? I've just posted in support of fruit platters, definitely working class kids but most fruit is sweet and squishy which is perfect. Of course they'll happily eat it off a chocolate biscuit if there's the option too but being WC shouldn't be a reason to not like fruit

Choking hazard.
Same as the Haribo.

Its almost as if the whole post was a "I shop at M&S and my DC eat lots of fruit" not so humble brag

I shop at Lidl which I pay for with our UC top up and my DC ear lots of fruit. Is that one acceptable?

Be better if they ate them rather than "ear" them but yes that IS acceptable

I agree although strawberries are kids faves, not in winter when they taste like crap. I agree with your menu OP and nothing obvious missing although I would have tap water available as well as juice either to dilute or as an alternative. And I would always do cocktail sausages because everyone loves them but its fine not to.

Hedgingmybetching · 22/01/2025 11:05

I think it looks great OP, my 4 year old loves water melon though so I'd keep that and as you said strawberries can be hit and miss this time of year.

The only thing I might have added would be mini sausage rolls? (Might be my 80s/90s kids party nostalgia talking though) But looks good to me!

Edit: oh yes and tap water too!

Dairy free butter on the sandwiches. And do half cheese and half ham.

Covers off dairy allergy kids

Not doing any hot food

I wasn't suggesting hot food

Snowmanscarf · 22/01/2025 12:06

Nice bottle of Prosecco for you drink in the evening after the party

ayvasili · 22/01/2025 12:22

Just a word of caution.. Please read the ingredients list for your ham.. Dairy has a funny way of showing up in processed meat. Also, ignore all the fruit haters-what a bunch of weirdos!! Lol your menu sounds wonderful 🍍🍎🍓🍇🍍🍎🍓🍇🍍🍎🍓🍇🍍🍎🍓🍇

This. Unfortunately. Blueberries, cherry tomatoes and grapes are massive choking hazards because of their shape and the texture of the skin.

Once you've done a paediatric first aid course you never want to supervise other people's children eating again. Terrifying.
