Food for three year old's party - have I forgotten anything?

owlll · 21/01/2025 12:32

Sandwiches
Breadsticks
Party rings
Pom bear
Veggie straws
Home made cupcakes plain

Apple juice
Orange juice
Water

Melon
Watermelon
Blueberries
Cucumber
Red pepper
Carrot sticks

Birthday cake to take home.

Guessing this is ok? Have I missed anything glaringly obvious?

I'd ditch the red pepper in case a child handles that and then their eyes........

Way to much fruit it’s expensive and won’t get eaten
just been to a party and each plate had grapes carrots and most of it went in the bin

keep it simple

It will get eaten, I know these kids

I would definitely add margherita pizza, and another sweet item (as a PP said chocolate fingers are good, or chocolate matchsticks).
I always used to also do a parents' table, people were very appreciative - often you're so busy getting your DC ready for the party that you forget to eat something yourself! Again maybe just a couple of slices of pizza each.

Not doing any hot food

The food sounds great! But don’t forget paper napkins, paper cups, knife for the cake, matches and birthday candles! And black bags to clear up all the mess afterwards.

Don't want double dipping.

Pre-filled paper cups/disposable shot glasses etc

Muddypawsies · 21/01/2025 18:07

I’d add chocolate biscuits and take out the water melon if it was me, but you sound like you know what you’re doing!

owlll · 21/01/2025 18:36

Have added some mini fingers, animal biscuits, mini digestives

Cold goujons? Good grief

Judgey much

Tink3rbell30 · 21/01/2025 21:21

Cold chicken nuggets/goujons and pizza are lovely.

Poppyseeds79 · 21/01/2025 21:38

I'd also add hummus or a yogurt dip - put a few spoons out so they can be added on to plates.

InWalksBarberalla · 21/01/2025 21:45

Where is the the fairy bread and honey joys?

Growlybear83 · 21/01/2025 21:50

@owlll I don't think anyone is suggesting that you serve hot food, but cold pizza and chicken nuggets/goujons always go down well. Children always seem to prefer both to sandwiches.

No

Why so short and rude?

Emilianoo · 22/01/2025 09:11

OP: have I forgot anything from this menu?

Most responses: yeah I'd remove this, add this, too many of that...

OP: no I'm confident in my choices thank you.

Literally the post pointless thread I've ever read on here.

gettingolderbutcooler · 22/01/2025 09:14

Initially read the one in your list as 'porn bear'.
Which I believe (happy to be corrected) would be deeply inappropriate.
As would 'cocaine bear' for the kids entertainment.
😏

bloodredfeaturewall · 22/01/2025 09:15

waaayyyy too much

I just did (still do with teens tbh)
chrisp/doritos
cherry tomatos
cucumber sticks
salsa
cupcakes
possibly popcorn

Not quite, I asked if I'd missed anything that was glaringly obvious! Not opinions on the type of food I plan to serve.

There will be a lot of choice but the quantities won't be mad

And lots of people suggested that you had missed things that were glaringly obvious, but you have discounted most of them, and have been quite rude with your responses.

Tink3rbell30 · 22/01/2025 09:53

Again, why so short and rude? People have given helpful suggestions to be met with "No" etc

ThinWomansBrain · 22/01/2025 09:54

congratulations on the fruit and veg loving children!

Aren't cup cakes without icing fairy cakes?😋

Its almost as if the whole post was a "I shop at M&S and my DC eat lots of fruit" not so humble brag

owlll · 21/01/2025 12:57

This thread is very interesting!

I'm confident in my choices, I was worried I'd missed something obvious but seem like I haven't.

Thanks for the help

I understand usually giving them juice but I'm just imagining them all hot and running around, they're going to get through a ton of liquid so you might have to minor the cartons rather than a free for all as you've got water.

Definitely hummus of you prefer bread sticks
