I am sick of hearing about ‘onlyfans models’

MidnightPatrol · 13/01/2025 15:49

Every day, at least once, I am served some content about ‘onlyfans models’ having sex with men, or as is most of the time - several men.

Bonnie Blue, Lilly Phillips. I suppose there are others.

I don’t click on the links, but it’s now a regular part of any social media feed.

Do people really want their social media feeds to be full of content about sex workers?

They’re basically attention seekers without much else to bring to anyone’s party, 🤷‍♀️

Toodaloo1567 · 13/01/2025 16:49

My ads are based on my interests, sometimes related to conversations my phone overhears and also husband’s interests. For example, if he’s looking at cruises, then my ads will also then include cruises.

Could it be someone else in your houses who is interested in this type of content and perhaps has signed up to a porn website? It’s easy for the algorithms to cross pollinate if there are multiple devices in the house, and amazon echo, amazon or apple tv.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 13/01/2025 16:51

Im not sure we should be calling them 'models' - they are sex workers.

Toodaloo1567 · 13/01/2025 16:52

The other thing I once noticed is that after a while looking at sports, sports clothing and keto, my twitter account/settings had decided I was a man. This meant I was then served up with ‘manly’ things like ‘jeans made for dudes with muscley thighs’. Hilarious.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 13/01/2025 16:53

My FB is likewise constantly full of ads or 'sponsored feeds' rather than posts from my friends.people I follow, which is pissing me off - I get maybe two posts from friends (often a week old) and then the entire rest of the page as far as I can scroll is ads and sponsored stuff but I have NEVER had a single post from anything to do with OnlyFans or porn in any shape or form. In fact it's nearly all horse sites and history. Which are interests of mine.So I don't know what's going on for these people who have OnlyFans coming up - I can only conclude that someone on their network has expressed an interest..

Aposterhasnoname · 13/01/2025 16:58

Click on not interested in this, or show less like this or whatever and they’ll gradually disappear

Choccyscofffy · 13/01/2025 16:59

MidnightPatrol · 13/01/2025 16:07

These aren’t adverts - it’s content.

I don’t get adverts for onlyfans - it’s new stories about these people.

My ads are, as yours, stuff I’ve been looking at / some brands who are targeting eg yes Halara this week, although I haven’t clicked on that!

I don’t understand how you’re being served up content on Metro and Daily Mail.

Are you going on the homepage of Metro and Daily Mail and they’re pushing a pop-up / advertorial to you?

MidnightPatrol · 13/01/2025 17:01

They aren’t ads @Toodaloo1567 - but I agree it could be that the algorithm assumes interest based on other stuff I interact with. Albeit… I don’t really interact with anything much!

And @Vroomfondleswaistcoat its just stories about these two girls, which have been all over the newspapers recently.

As another poster mentioned, there’s a ‘sponsored content’ thing with one of them on TikTok which they’re obviously getting too.

It’s not because we are all suddenly watching loads of pornographic or onlyfans related content, I assume it’s because they’re currently in ‘influencer’ territory.

@Choccyscofffy if you scroll through Facebook or Twitter etc, you’ll be shown content on your feed shared by eg Daily Mail, Sky News - all sorts of people. I mean, if you scroll down the daily mail today they have an article about one of them - that’s then reposted across all their social media channels to drive traffic. That’s where I see it - where it has been shared to a social media channel.

Sometimes I follow the publication, sometimes I don’t. I don’t want to see any content about it at all though, once a day is too much.

Yes agree and it’s grim. I don’t get it on social media but I do see the mail online articles and have seen Bonnie Blue on morning tv. Porn is being brought to the mainstream and ‘onlyfans’ model or whatever is a euphemism for hard core porn, BB doing over 1000 men in a day 🤮🤮🤮🤮

Do you use your friends feed? It still has ads but it has my friends’ posts in order, up to date and in the majority.
I get pushed news articles from Welsh publications and about music and theatre mostly. Ads for these and for holidays. The algorithm has me sussed.

I never get anything from the Daily Mail pushed on my Facebook, insta or thread.

Yep, that is my friends feed. I've got 1500 'Friends' but only see posts from some of them, and most of my feed is 'stuff'. It was never like this before, it seems to have become this way in the last 18 months.

Gowlett · 13/01/2025 17:08

Anytime I click into X (not often) there is always a video of a violent fight at the top. I don’t want to see it. Or a message from Elon Musk. They are trying to normalise violence & porn.

Bramshott · 13/01/2025 17:12

Facebook has got much more full of random shit in the past few months. Like a PP, I've now discovered if you go to "feeds" and then "friends" you actually see just updates from people you're connected to. Sadly there doesn't seem to be any way to just make that your default feed though.

Maybe it’s the number of friends? That seems high. I never got old posts, just yesterdays when I check in the morning (until it gets to the ones I saw the day before). There is definitely more ‘stuff’ than there used to be but it’s not intrusive.
Edit: just checked mine and I have 271 friends. I know them all…
Edit again: soecifically friends feed? Not just feeds/all whoch also includes groups and pages etc?

I left Xitter not long after Musk bought it because it was obvious which way things were going.

Content is pushed to your feeds in the same way the adverts are. You are being shown content that for some reason the sites you browse think you want to see - there’s no advantage to them in pushing content you won’t click on because they don’t get that clicks then.

Even if you’ve accidentally clicked on the stories or you gave opened the link to see what on earth is being shown to you, that counts.

Also they match content with other searches you do. And also anyone else who is consuming content on your internet feed. Also what friends are sharing and looking at.

If it’s sponsored posts on places like FB - click on the three little dots and select ‘show less of these’ ‘block this poster’ etc etc

Do it religiously every time it comes up for a couple of weeks and actively click on the content that you prefer and you’ll find the algorithm adjusts.

If it doesn’t then someone who is using your internet is searching for that content.

I think you may have clicked on something onlyfans adjacent at some point (love island gossip etc). I think (someone can correct me) that if you clear your cookies/search history it may help dilute the algorithm that selects stuff on your feed and you can kind of reteach your device?

Choccyscofffy · 13/01/2025 17:28

Oh I see, I have to say I’m another who doesn’t get any media content, all I get is ads for things I’ve previously Googled, mostly Sainsbury’s Tu and Simply Be 😬

BUT my Facebook is a semi- fake account, I only use it to join groups, so it’s in a fake name and whilst I have lots of ‘friends’ on it, they aren’t real life friends.

Gggglinda · 13/01/2025 17:33

Me too op. My whole Facebook feed is about this even though I never click the link and all the ads are dating websites too. It's getting on my nerves, I press not interested and it still comes straight back. I'm a bit suspicious now after reading the PPs. How do I check my router or set something up to see what's being accessed on there?

ThejoyofNC · 13/01/2025 17:41

These women make me sick. Especially bonnie blue. The video of her with that well mannered young Christian man just trying to work in five guys gave me the rage.

I'm an author so I have an open profile to help readers follow me, hence the large number of friends.

VoltaireMittyDream · 13/01/2025 17:49

Never get any smutty stuff, but my feed is full of things I 100% genuinely never searched for, but clicked on once out of curiosity and now I get them all the time.

It’s mainly videos of Japanese beavers carrying vegetables around, or extreme makeup videos where people paint their faces to look like they have a tiny twerking frog living on the end of their nose.

It wasn’t a judgement. Just wondering if volume affected things. Is it a personal profile or a page as an author? That might affect things too. Just trying to think if reasons.
