I had a baby today

That’s all. I had a baby today (actually yesterday! But I haven’t been to sleep yet). And I’m in hospital and I’m looking at her perfect, tiny face, and I am completely turned inside out and annihilated by love for her.

Nothing has ever felt like this.

DC1 was 30 yesterday. You never forget. He'll become a parent himself in the next few weeks, to say we're all thrilled is an understatement.
Congratulations. x

Congratulations- I'm so looking forward to being a grandma

And congratulations OP, I remember that feeling so well, still feel it every day

What a lovely post. When I had my ds, 17 years ago, it was the end of the evening and I hardly slept a wink as I just looked at him, stroked his face, so utterly in love, and felt so very lucky to be his mum, just so excited about getting to know him. Welcome to motherhood @NewestMum - the love sees you through the tricky, tired times.

Congratulations ❤️ this post just warmed my cold heart.

OdeToBarney · 10/01/2025 08:27

That was me almost three years ago.... I still can't believe she's mine 💗🥰

Marylou2 · 10/01/2025 08:29

Congratulations on your new baby. Look after yourself and enjoy every last minute.

faintingfancy · 10/01/2025 08:32

Congratulations OP! I remember this feeling well and just adored the time the two of us.

One bit of advice I’d pass on is make sure your partner, family or even a nurse takes a photo of you and baby (if that’s something you want of course!). All my photos of me and baby in hospital were selfies and I wish I had gotten a normal photo.

Congratulations again and welcome to the world little one ❤️

paulyispoorly · 10/01/2025 08:37

The feeling is the best ever . Nothing can replicate

UpUpUpU · 10/01/2025 09:45

Congratulations OP!

I am a midwife and I have the absolute honour and pleasure of witnessing this love on a regular basis and it gets me every time.

I still get this feeling with my own child who is 6, especially when he is sleeping and you like at this perfect, beautiful little human you made and nurtured.

Enjoy every second ❤️

Mindymomo · 10/01/2025 09:47

Congrats, my 2 DC are 32 and 28, you never forget this precious time.

HettysHandbag · 10/01/2025 09:51

That's the drugs talking OP 😁

Kidding! It's an amazing feeling. The next one is the absolute confusion when they "let" you take her home.

Unpaidviewer · 10/01/2025 10:21

Congratulations! Take loads of video. I took so many photos but not as many videos and I love watching them back. Mine is now a toddler and I still feel completely overwhelmed by how I feel about him.

Cattery · 10/01/2025 10:28

@NewestMum Just magical isn’t it. The little face. You can’t quite believe you’ve done it. Enjoy her ❤️ x

Make the most of every moment, they grow so fast! (My dd is currently asleep on me, 6 months old.) Each cuddle is special x
