I had a baby today

That’s all. I had a baby today (actually yesterday! But I haven’t been to sleep yet). And I’m in hospital and I’m looking at her perfect, tiny face, and I am completely turned inside out and annihilated by love for her.

Nothing has ever felt like this.

that's how my mum described it.
she never wanted to have children, but I sneaked through the net. she was about five or six months by the time she knew she was pregnant, and then I was premature, so she hardly had any time to get her head around the idea.
but she said as soon as I was born, she loved me more than anything in the world.she's always said I was an accident, but never a mistake.

Marblediamond · 10/01/2025 05:38

Congratulations. The love you feel for your children doesn’t compare with anything else

Threewheeler1 · 10/01/2025 05:39

Aww congratulations 🎂💕😃
Hope you're both doing really well!
I remember that first night in hospital with DS1, held him and stared at him all night, partly terrified I'd drop him but also couldn't reach the cot to put him down as I still couldn't feel my legs 😬
It's amazing how dinky they are when they come out - thought I was going to birth a buffalo, I felt absolutely enormous!
Wishing you all the best NewestMum - enjoy getting home, clean, having a proper sleep and all the time ahead with your new little tiddler! xxx
ps what a lovely, lovely post to wake up to 💝🙌

Nothing will ever feel like it. I remember the feeling of complete joy and peace I felt after the birth of my children. Nothing compares.

I love my DH with all my heart but the only times I've known what being in love truly means was looking at my newborns faces after delivery.

Congratulations mom Flowers

Awwww congratulations.

I remember before I had DS being a 🤷‍♀️🧐 over the expression "mothers love".

Then he was born. 😍

Enjoy every moment.

RaininSummer · 10/01/2025 07:46

Congratulations. It's such a powerful feeling isn't it. I remember over 30 years ago being unable to sleep and just gazing into the plastic box where an amazing little scrap of daughter was sleeping.

MeinKraft · 10/01/2025 07:52

Ah i remember all of that so clearly. It’s the best of times, and it’s the worst of times (because your heart now exists outside your body and that is scary!) take any help that is offered to you OP and bask in the love. It never goes away.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 10/01/2025 07:53

NewGreenDuck · 10/01/2025 07:57

Congratulations, it is the best feeling in the world 😁 I remember actually chuckling in the delivery room because I was so deliriously happy!

Remember to pop to Mumsnet if you need any advice - it gets a bit 'lively' here from time to time, but there is excellent advice to be had xxx

MyVIsForVendetta · 10/01/2025 08:04

I remember that feeling with my first born!

The bliss is unbelievable isn’t it?

And get this - it just gets better!
Congratulations!

supercalafrog · 10/01/2025 08:06
