Stove kettle: which brand? Is Le Creuset worth it?

Been wanting a LC stove kettle for years but the reviews are very disappointing. Does anyone have it and is it worth it?
Any other nice brand to recommend? I’d like a pretty one and don’t mind spending up to £100

Alessi, if you shop around in the sales you’ll get one for just over £100. !
I’ve had mine for 15 years, still good as new.

Azandme · 09/01/2025 23:19

We have a Le Creuset and I love it.

It's our second - we changed the colour of the kitchen so changed the kettle to match, but the first is 20 years old and still going strong in a new home. .

Worth every penny.

caffelattetogo · 09/01/2025 23:21

Ours took ages to boil. We got an Aga branded one and that boils in half the time.

Wintersoltice · 09/01/2025 23:43

I love my LC kettle

unsync · 09/01/2025 23:48

I've got an Aga one in the garage going cheap!! It's on my declutter radar.

Thelnebriati · 09/01/2025 23:55

It depends what type of stove you've got, the heavy kettles only really work on an Aga.

Thighdentitycrisis · 10/01/2025 00:05

I’ve got an Agaluxe and it works fine on my gas hob

abricotine · 10/01/2025 00:07

I had one when I lived in the US and it always amazed me how long it took to boil for a cuppa! It’s why Americans prefer coffee I think 😂
I have a Quooker now! Just be prepared if you do get a stovetop one, how long they take to boil

Thelnebriati · 10/01/2025 00:09

I have a gas stove and a cheap stovetop kettle, it boils in minutes. A cast iron kettle would take ages.

Thighdentitycrisis · 10/01/2025 00:09

That’s true it does take a few mins to boil, usually long enough for me to wash up

MixedFamily · 10/01/2025 07:46

I love the Aga one but thought it was only suitable for Aga?
Apparently is the latest LC that are a bit faulty in the sense that they leak a bit, lid is a bit off etc

We have a cheap one, had it 11 years but it did need a leak fixing and tbh should have been replaced but I love it. We only use the stove top so it gets lots of use and for that reason I've avoided heavy ones because they take so long to boil. I don't know many people with the LC but the couple of friends who have one don't actually use it 🤔

Edited to say I meant stainless one, it was about £40 when we got it so cheap in comparison to the heavy ones

DdJames · 10/01/2025 07:54

I have an LC one and love it. Had it about 15 years and no problems with leaking. It boils very quickly on my induction hob.

Henowner · 10/01/2025 08:11

I've had a LC one for nearly 20 years, still works. The top does leak a bit when I pour water but apart from that it's fine.

I'm sure a cheaper brand would work just as well though.

Slibberydibbery · 10/01/2025 08:15

Alessi- love ours

Firstnamelastname123 · 10/01/2025 08:27

We’ve had a LC one for about 6 months and love it. It does take longer to boil but I feel that’s my rebellion against the breakneck speed of modern life. I bought mine from the LC shop and the assistant said they will replace it no quibbles if it develops a fault.

Copperoliverbear · 10/01/2025 08:28

Love LC well worth it
John Lewis have them and you can pay with Klarna over three months £32.99 a month so you won't notice the cost.

TheFlis · 10/01/2025 08:30

There is a big sale on the LC website at the moment with kettles reduced in certain colours!

paulyispoorly · 10/01/2025 08:38

I must need more sleep. I was sat looking at the thread title thinking wtf is Steve Kettle?

Yes that's why I wanted to get one! I was just put off by some of the bad reviews I have seen online!

I LOVE my huge 2ltr LeCreuset Stainless Steel stove whistling kettle. It wasn't cheap, but you get what you pay for and this beauty will last years and years ... and more years. An investment worth making.

I use it on an induction hob, electric hob and on top of my dual-fuel log burner. Can't fault it and the whistle is just awesome, pretty cute when you're making your first cuppa of the day etc. it's loud 🤩

I previously owned an Alessi and whilst the body of the kettle was perfect, the removable blue whistles are poor quality and constantly need replacing. By the time I'd forked out to replace it twice, I'd had enough. I sold it without its whistle and after careful research, I bought my stainless steel LeCreuset. The big one, 2ltr. Do it xx

I’ve got a £5 IKEA stainless steel one and I love it! Simple, lightweight, easy to fill. But then again I don’t go for expensive branded stuff most of the time 🤣

MixedFamily · 10/01/2025 10:37

@SparklingPinkCat Love it, so beautiful. I am really in love with the same style but enamel as I like the colors but have read about chips, rust and other issues and puts me off

OP posts:
MixedFamily · 10/01/2025 10:38

@Firstnamelastname123 do you have an enamel one? I keep reading about color chipping and rust appearing inside as the coating chips, have you had any issues?
