To think DH a bit of a stupid twat?

DH went off to reading beer festival yesterday. he does these little trips with a mate fairly often. I drove them to the train, they had planned to get a certain train there and back and then a bus back to our town from the station.

phone rings at 10.30. DH in very noisy pub saying. 'i can't hear you' over and over.
then he rings back to say 'we're in oxford. we got on the wrong train and can't get back'.

DD2 in bed with a friend sleeping over. I'd had 2 glasses of wine so wasn't driving anywhere. so I yelled that down the phone.

DH repeating drunkenly down the phone 'i'm in oxford'

me yelling 'step out of the pub you wanker'

DH dared suggest I go to pick them up - along the lines of 'can't you come and get me?'

me 'are you out of your fucking mind? have you forgotten we have children?'

conversation ends with DH shouting something about trying to get a train then a taxi.

There are NO taxis around the village where the station is or our town after 10 in the evening. you can't just phone a taxi!

I think sod it and went to bed. he is after all a grown up.

DH somehow manages to get home around 3 this morning.

I have no idea how as i'm not speaking to him. I think maybe they got a taxi. how much would that have cost??????

Is he a stupid twat wanker for managing to get on the wrong train?

Is he even stupider to expect me to leave DD2 and friend in bed and drive to reading to get him?

what should I punish him with?

Wow why is MN so serious sometimes. NN was clearly tongue in cheek with a lot of her posts. Honestly sometimes people need to get a sense of humour. And before anyone says it if my dp wrote something like this about me I think I would know him well enough to be able to laugh with him.

johnso · 04/05/2008 23:24

Humour has a place in MN, surely?

Naughty Nigella, just look at what you've started! Come back and comment please!

UnquietDad · 04/05/2008 23:41

He went out...

got a bit pissed...

had fun...

made a daft call to you...

Unless he makes a habit of this I don't think he deserves the vitriol.

Clearly, everyone needs the odd night out where they act like a bit of a twat. You should have one yourself. If you never get one, maybe that's the issue rather than his behaviour!

lilolilmanchester · 05/05/2008 00:14

That's pretty well what I wrote in my first post Unquietdad, and I still agree with you. Olihan doesn't quite see it like that tho.

Iamthedoctor · 05/05/2008 09:54

Please, Olihan, can you explain how this post can be assumed a joke?:

it was a beer festival

VictorianSqualor · 05/05/2008 10:07

She was pissed off, as would I be, I read it as a pissed off OP, and the last line as a 'joke'.
I bet if she hadn't said what shall I punish him with everyone would have said 'What a tosspot, do X'.

Olihan · 05/05/2008 11:22

Iamthedoctor - I assume you read more than the OP? Every single post that I copied in to my post of 22:48 came after her OP and before your first post.

The first post began as a bit of a rant but, as VS says, the last line pointed it to being more jokey, than serious.

Then there's this:

By NaughtyNigella on Sun 04-May-08 22:11:03
i have him dressed in his gimp outfit - chained to my dungeon wall.
that'll teach him to make me cross.

when he is properly penitent i may let him out. but only if he apologises properly.

By Iamthedoctor on Sun 04-May-08 22:24:17
It wouldn't suprise me if you were being serious...

Do you honestly have NO sense of humour? How can you possibly think she is serious?

Gimp outfit? Dungeon? Do you know how much it would cost to buy a house with a dungoen? (That's a JOKE too, in case you missed it).

Honestly, lighten up.

NaughtyNigella · 05/05/2008 15:44

good lord and blimey. i go off to work for a few hours and just look.

yes my original posty began as a bit of a rant. Yes DH did annoy me a bit by being a bit of a twat. but that is what i and many others do here - have a bit of a rant then go and do the washing up as usual.

BUT

lighten up you lot. i think the tone was plain to see I was being a bit flippant.
although if you lot do mix with people who genuinely punish their grow up partners by tying them up in their dungeons one would understand you thought me being serious.
