Sorry about the terrible title but just wondered if anyone had any ideas for my 15 year old daughters birthday. She got lots of skincare and perfume at Christmas and she loves to read if that's any help? I'm asking you lovely mumsnetters as your advice fir christmas presents were amazing and the pandora ring that was recommended was her all time favourite gift

Memories not possessions.

A day trip, a hobby course, an afternoon tea, a spa day, walking with animals day,

Always something to do vs something to hold.

MereDintofPandiculation · 08/01/2025 22:12

Ask her?

IggyAce · 08/01/2025 22:13

Nomination bracelet with a charm.
Experiences is a good suggestion, a weekend trip, young driver experience.

ColinOfficeTrolley · 08/01/2025 22:13

What's the budget?

It was recently my dd's 16th and we went to see a show in London.

OldTinHat · 08/01/2025 22:14

A kindle and subscription to ebooks?

9ToGoal · 08/01/2025 22:16

Adult and teen spa day with lunch went down really well for our family teen girls into skin care, the ones who aren't went motor racing and to escape rooms.

Experiences and memories will last much longer than physical gifts. Young driver courses were also appreciated.

Theatre tickets or an experience - zoo, driving, indoor skydiving etc..

Fatloss · 08/01/2025 22:17

With it so near Christmas maybe a concert or other event later in the year? At that age you could ask if she would prefer a main present later in the year ? 6 months after birthday. Make clear she can have now instead.

Hankunamatata · 08/01/2025 22:31

Kobo e- reader - great for borrowing books from local library, audible subscription

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 08/01/2025 22:34

My bookworm teen was delighted with a big book token and a trip to her favourite bookshop.

And a new colour of Converse boots.

LittleMousewithcloggson · 08/01/2025 22:45

Mine (is 16 shortly) has:
A charm for her Pandora bracelet (if yours doesn’t have a Pandora bracelet that, in itself, is a great present and you can give charms as presents ongoing)
Pair of earrings
A book set (The Naturals)
Theatre Tickets to “The Devil wears Prada” musical
Sabrina Carpenter Cherry perfume
Hotel Chocolat (we only ever gift this for birthdays)

LittleMousewithcloggson · 08/01/2025 22:46

She also got a lovely jewellery box for Christmas so that’s a good present too

You could look at cheap flights to go on a day or one night/two day trip on a weekend to europe. Groupon or wowcher sometimes do them - we have done this and picked decent dates. We went to Rome for two nights on a whim with just hand luggage. Then you can see new things, have fab food and 1 to 1 time. People really just do this for the day too if you just get flights, and go from a cheaper airport for parking, it can work out a cheaper day out than the UK if you are savvy about it.

It depends what your DD is into.

Yes the Therme spa in bucharest would be a great trip for a 16yr old. I went with my eldest son in October and it wasn’t hugely costly. I am in the extreme day trips group, Therme bucharest is very popular on there.

If she already has a kindle her her a remote to turn the pages, so she can properly it up but keep her hands under a blanket whilst reading

My teenage girls are older and younger than yours. A surprising success for both of them at Christmas was a smart clock. It's a bit like an Alexa. It sits in their room being a clock, but also you can make it like a digital photo frame scrolling photos, but also it plays Spotify, and also syncs their calendars, and also does reminders for things. Sort of like a cross between an iPad and an Alexa and a Frameo and a smart watch.

It’s on facebook. It’s called Extreme Day trips. Some great suggestions. Not everyone does them in one day, we always stay 1-2 nights. We just book with the cheap airlines, Easy Jet, Wizz air etc, and then select a hotel on booking.com. The group will give loads of suggestions. I always research best way to travel around and we take buses / trains where possible. So many amazing places to visit. My eldest son has been on loads of trips in the last year, he is living his best life.

Wilko do freestanding, full-length mirrors that open up with lots of storage for jewellery and make-up inside.

It's a nice sentiment but I don't think most 15 year olds will see it the same way.

Greenbird710 · 09/01/2025 08:57

Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions, I think you are right about experiences being the best idea this close to Christmas. I did ask her but she told me she didn't need anything after Christmas presents bless her so I think a day trip is the way I will go. Thank you for amazing advice as always

Alexa (on sale at JL) and an audible subscription.

Who is her favourite author, are they doing any signings or sessions at literary festivals?
