Sorry about the terrible title but just wondered if anyone had any ideas for my 15 year old daughters birthday. She got lots of skincare and perfume at Christmas and she loves to read if that's any help? I'm asking you lovely mumsnetters as your advice fir christmas presents were amazing and the pandora ring that was recommended was her all time favourite gift

The spas at CentreParcs are amazing and teenagers are allowed. They do a nice twilight 6-9pm slot. I’m planning to take my 15 year old as a treat. She also loved the pyjamas I bought her Victoria’s Secret. And the Greggs gift card!

Are there any artists she likes? Maybe you can get her something related to them or from their official store? Sabrina Carpener's perfume is said to be good, or Selena Gomez's makeup line, etc. You can also make a custom poster calendar with her favorite artist or turn a photo of them into a poster and print it out (here is a guide for doing so).
There are also various subscription option, like a snack subscription box- https://www.snackcrate.com/?srsltid=AfmBOooCe7ySkJzsrgamu0vyQ7y5WtKME36vKPe0Jg0khiSfEWIeGOZo
Or a skincare box - https://www.independent.co.uk/extras/indybest/fashion-beauty/beauty/best-beauty-subscription-boxes-uk-b1954393.html

Activities not things, voucher for 2 to get nails done? So she can take a friend or do it with you, horse riding lesson, stand up paddle boarding, a writing camp?

Red letter days are worth checking out. DD enjoyed a meerkat experience last year.

I often get my dd “experience” presents - like tickets to a show she wants to see or similar. They’re so expensive, it is definitely a good present. My teenager likes that as she loves going to the theatre and also it’s an environmentally friendly gift.

If not, how about something like expensive boots - my loves timberlands so they make a good present.

Ive actually bought her difficult Lego architecture for a reason gift and she loved that but I appreciate not all would.

A trip to Shakespeare and Co in Paris? I don't think you would get a room to stay in but a visit would be good.

There's a bloody annoying queue for this though

The best book related gift i have received is one of the bespoke subscriptions to the Willoughby book club. You buy it, they send you a tin with allnof the instructions and she goes online, tells then what she loves to read, what she has read and they send a different book to her every month. Beautifully wrapped. You can pause it of you're not reading them fast enough, if they send a book you have already read they send a new one immediately. Properly brilliant.

Worth checking out. I think the six month bespoke subscription was £100.

Get her some of the Clothbound Classics books.

MumonabikeE5 · 09/01/2025 09:47

What is her hobby- her sport? Her craft? Her skill?
if she doesn’t have one, then she needs to be developing one, it can’t all be beauty and fashion.

if she doesn’t have one that needs kit, maybe you can introduce her to one that you think she might like, and find a weekend or half term course or experience, which could awaken or reawaken her interest.

Mine was incredibly pleased with one of those blenders that you can then use to take your smoothie away with you - a cordless one. Cuisinart, I think.

A great gift I once got was a really big book token- £300. Realise a book token is not exciting but there’s something about a very extravagant one that is exciting- like, free books for a year!

Do a search to see if any of her favourite authors are speaking at an event soon?

One of mine is 15 this week, I’ve got her tickets to see Hamilton when it’s relatively local later in the year and a few bits of jewellery and Hamilton merch so she’s something to open.

Trip to see Matthew Baynton as Bottom in Midsummer Nights Dream at the Barbican?

My teenage girls are older and younger than yours. A surprising success for both of them at Christmas was a smart clock. It's a bit like an Alexa. It sits in their room being a clock, but also you can make it like a digital photo frame scrolling photos, but also it plays Spotify, and also syncs their calendars, and also does reminders for things. Sort of like a cross between an iPad and an Alexa and a Frameo and a smart watch.

This sounds handy! Which frame is it? I can't see one with Spotify but dd would love it!

Vinyl albums of favourite artists. Even if she can't play them they are lovely to have and display. Acc to my 16yo!

Urban outfitters clothes? Furniture for room?

gannett · 09/01/2025 15:55

The number one present I wanted as a teenager was money. Teenagers crave autonomy more than anything else, adults don't get the nuances of their tastes and money allows them to pick out exactly what they really want.

Experiences are also a good idea. Her first gig or pop concert? Sporting event? Even just a fancy dinner out? Depends what she's into (also depending on that, tickets may be an arse to get hold of). If you're going to go with that, though, abandon any idea of surprising her - run it by her first because she may no longer be into what she was into last time you checked a month ago!

elfshenanigans · 09/01/2025 15:58

what is she into?
