To stay in a hotel in my hometown alone

Just because I need a bloody break 🤣

Ive been offered a free hotel room in a nice hotel in my hometown, it has a swimming pool, a gym, nice restaurant etc. I’m a carer for my disabled son and this is under a breaks for carers scheme. Is it a bit weird to go on my own in my hometown? I’d get room service, go for a swim, watch TV in bed and enjoy the peace!

No one knows why you are there though. People regularly stay in hotels alone for work, eat in the restaurant alone, I always ho to a theatre show too.

It doesn't matter where it is, the point is you are in a hotel room with literally nothing else to do, and no one putting demands on your time. I suggest not taking a device you'll doom scrolling on, take a book, a fancy box of chocolates, buy a bottle of something you like to drink may be a fancy shloer ( get a glass of lemonade with plenty of ice from the hotel bar first). If you like self care then take / buy some face masks, fancy bubble bath or whatever you would enjoy doing but don't have time or headspace for or if you have the cash and if it's something you like get a manicure

I love all of these suggestions, thank you. I’m very excited now 😆 For context, DH is actually on holiday with eldest that week and I’m on my own with our youngest who I’m a carer for. I’ll be going the day after they come back.

You should totally do that. Does it need to be in your hometown? I find it much easier to mentally switch off if I’m unable to get back easily.

It was a spur of the moment booking and I’ve actually always liked the look of this hotel. Huge pool, saunas, steam rooms and a gym (which I doubt I will set foot in) January is a bit of a tight month so a local break will be lovely.

I’ve done it a few times. It’s a great idea!

Go go go! And enjoy x

Absolutely do it! No one knows where you are from or why you are there.

The only positive thing about working away for me is the occasional chance to have the night to myself in a hotel room with room service and my own company (unfortunately it’s mostly company & team dinners).

Ive also stayed near home when a friend came to visit locally for a couple of nights, I booked a room for me & DD so we could go for dinner with them, swim in the pool and enjoy breakfast together. Once you’re in the hotel you could be literally anywhere.

I'm signed up to carers space but not had chance to use it yet. Definitely will if I get chance!

Sounds amazing OP. Get there the second check in opens!!!

Do it and enjoy the rest.

You must go. The scheme is there for a reason.
Go, chill out, relax. Recharge.
The whole family will benefit.

Have fun, you deserve it

Thank you 🤩 It feels a bit weird as I’m not going for any particular reason and I’m leaving DH and the kids on their own. They will be fine lol.

You’d be daft not to. Have fun
