Zero sympathy for people who had £10 million worth of jewellery stolen

People are struggling to heat their homes, feed their kids and pay their rent - whilst this 'millionaire influencer' has £10 million worth of jewellery stashed in a safe at home - I find this morally abhorrent and have zero sympathy. They have so little insight and social conscience that they feel it appropriate to flash jewellery and other signs of huge wealth all over social media. I'm glad no-one was injured obviously but hope the stolen jewellery is used to re-distribute some of their enormous wealth.

Did you nick it?

MrsScarecrow · 01/01/2025 20:51

It's not the value of items stolen it's the fact that your personal safe space has been violated. We have been burgled 3 times and it's the feeling of being unsafe in your own home. Our children were scared everything we came home for weeks and we weren't even in the house when they broke in.

But it won’t be used for distributing wealth. It will be distributed amongst thieves. You really prefer some thieving scumbag have it than the person who owned it?

Absolutely. I see no difference between the robbers and the victim.

SteveBognor · 01/01/2025 22:16

A crime is a crime however jealous you may be of someone else's wealth or how they managed to come by it - I would rather it was still sat safe in the safe than being use to fund drug shipments or people smuggling - unless there is ring doorbell footage of a guy in green tights carrying a bow and arrow I do not see this stash making it to the poor....

Closetheblinds · 01/01/2025 22:17

How awfully bitter

maddening · 01/01/2025 22:20

It's just like the people that have been bigging up the murderer of the health insurance ceo in the US- seriously your morality is low if you are cheering on murderers and thieves- on the basis of jealousy or disagreeing with social political positions - that is disgusting imo

Yes which are all under the umbrella of the FA

Football clubs are each businesses in their own right, hiring (signing) staff (players) and deciding wages as they see fit. The FA has nothing to do with salaries much less pay them!

So anybody wealth is the same as a thief.

LOL!

Jayne35 · 02/01/2025 19:07

What an awful post. The value of someone's possessions are relative to what they earn. I have some jewellery worth 100s, not millions because I don't earn millions and I don't begrudge other people their luxuries, or even care how they spend their cash. Burglary is an awful crime, whatever is stolen.

LaurieFairyCake · 02/01/2025 19:36

There's some really interesting questions raised on this thread.

I also couldn't give a crap but not because it's £10 million quid but because the money has not been come by in a worthwhile way.

So for example if that couple who won a 100 million on the lottery spent £10 million on crap like that I'd at least think fair play, they used to have normal jobs as a bin man and an HCA and they've bought all their family houses why shouldn't they support the economy and spend a load of money on junk.

So clearly I just don't respect the uber rich couple described as they're not real fucking jobs and don't deserve it 🤷‍♀️

Not saying I'm right by the way, clearly I'm wrong to say you can only have money providing your contributing to society in a way I DEEM valuable Grin

PeppyGreenFinch · 02/01/2025 19:44

What value of jewellery is acceptable, OP?

I haven’t taken a sickie in years and have a lot of valuable jewellery. Would be good to know at what point you think someone has the right to steal my jewellery.

Why wasn’t the money gained in a worthwhile way?

How awfully bitter

Screw that - if I was so rich I could afford to spare £10 million on trinkets, I’d give it to the local women’s shelter or hospital instead - who wouldn’t? This is money laundering in plain sight.

I’m not being bitter, it’s 10 million pounds, which is a staggering amount of money that could keep many people alive, but we’re supposed to believe it’s reasonable for one person to have it all just in a very few “designer” objects or jewellery? These must be something bought/forged and smuggled by the proceeds of crime, surely, and meant to launder money right down the chain. We can “hope” that once the (clean) insurance kicks in and it’s finally laundered they pay some of the proceeds to a decent cause, but it’s not going to happen.

Wow you really did elaborate on your factual knowledge of the situation 😆
People are free to do what they choose with their own budget whether anyone likes it or not. I’m sure they are so upset about your opinion that they will stop buying things that choose and come after your list of what you would do.

Pipconkermash · 03/01/2025 01:31

🤦🏻‍♀️ Jesus this is naive.

So how much can someone make before being a criminal.

Are all those people on the Sunday Times Rich List criminals? How convenient that they have done the police a service and listed the top 100 criminals in the world
Have you informed the police that they need to look at the list and arrest every single one of them

So Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Taylor Swift and Elton John all got so wealthy through crime?

Yalta · 03/01/2025 03:33

Also if you think that this crime was money laundering, are you saying that the “victim” actually organised the robbery?

Govanexpat · 03/01/2025 14:08

I think what's abhorrent is that any jewellery is worth ten million quid. Just looks like a load of tat to me

excellent, so you just saved yourself 10 million quid. Happy days!

Thunderlegs · 04/01/2025 11:03

This feels like 'zero sympathy for girls in short skirts who get raped.' I mean, is anyone a perfect victim? Do only perfect victims see their attackers properly punished? A crime was committed, their possessions were taken. What more do you need?

Goodtogossip · 08/01/2025 12:12

Your post says more about you than it does the owner of the jewellery. They've obviously worked hard to get what they have & to not have any sympathy or empathise with them having their possession stolen is heartless. You may not agree with how they flash their cash but at the end of the day, they're human & it's upsetting for them. I'd sympathise with a person who had a £20 bracelet stolen, I'd feel the same as if the bracelet was worth thousands, it's not the value of the things stolen, it's how it affects the person.
