Neighbour leaving bins out

Sadsister224 · 29/12/2024 22:12

I live in a cul de sac where some of the neighbours gardens back on to my close. One neighbour takes forever to take their bins in. It makes the close look so untidy. It doesn't effect them because they dont see it because their house faces the next road. They were collected Friday morning and they're still there. WIBU to ask them to take them in more promptly?

Yes. Get a hobby.

Keroppi · 29/12/2024 22:14

Yes, ridiculous
Unless it blocks the path etc

It does block the path

I don’t think that will be well-received. Next door and I pull each other’s up the drive when we’re doing our own - is that a possibility?

Liverpool52 · 29/12/2024 22:18

That time of the year. We've had the pissy Facebook posts on our village group telling people the collections are delayed and can't people read the council website.

Well yeah but after your simular tantrum last year some of us now deliberately put our bins out to annoy you.

How does a perfectly normal thing of everyday life such as a wheelie bin make a road look untidy?

stealthninjamum · 29/12/2024 22:18

Depending on your front garden, whether you have a fence etc that might annoy me. If I could see someone else’s bins while I’m in my house for an extra two days (presumably three as they won’t be moving them at this time of night) then yes I would be annoyed. But if they’re relatively hidden - you have a high fence etc - I’d be less bothered.

FoxInTheForest · 29/12/2024 22:18

Is their garden open? I'd just pull them off the curb onto their garden path if it's still blocking the path a day later, they should get the point then and if they say anything just say "oh I noticed you'd forgotten them so I cleared the path, don't worry it wasn't any hassle"

Fleecedandzipped · 29/12/2024 22:19

My bins are left out permanently. I find it easier simply to leave them outside the front of the house, then I don't have to remember which bin to put out the night before collection day, as they're both out already.

spidermum18 · 29/12/2024 22:19

I would take the bins in for them if it bothers you that much. They might take the hint but if you mention it, will prob annoy them.

No, he keeps them in her back garden so can't do that.

I can see them out of my front window

No, garden has a locked gate.

You would be vvv unreasonable to tell them when to take their bins in. You have no idea why they don't, and frankly it's none of your business. If it bothers you so much, why don't you take their bin to outside their house.

Quornflakegirl · 29/12/2024 22:21

This is definitely a weird British thing. If their bin is on their property they can leave it wherever they choose. It was only in Britain where I heard people complaining of neighbours blocking their sunlight 😳 This is mad and similar to bonkers claim of sunlight.

It's not on their property....

It just looks so scruffy. Myself and my neighbours work hard to make our close look really tidy and nice and they just can't be arsed to take their bins in.

I would feel the same but unfortunately people have different priorities and it isn’t really any of your business.

Letstheriveranswer · 29/12/2024 22:24

Pretty sure the councils usually have rules that bins aren't allowed to be either left out on the street or put out too early....

ForPearlViper · 29/12/2024 22:25

Anyone remember Hyacinth Bucket....

Quornflakegirl · 29/12/2024 22:25

Christ, you don’t own the close and therefore it isn’t your prerogative to keep it tidy and nice.

I don't think the council would help me

That's absolutely fine, make your jokes. I worked multiple jobs for years to be able to live in a nice area that wasn't covered in litter and dog shit and I take a lot of pride in where I live.

Why are they collected from the back of her house?

MartinCrieffsLemon · 29/12/2024 22:27

We had to leave ours out for nearly a week before they finally got emptied. You'd have hated it

You sound like one of those bonkers HA people they have in America
