For the first time in a long time I don't have to make a last minute dash to the shops for a forgotten item so have the whole day to bake and cook. What goodies are you rustling up today? I thought I might make some Christmas muffins, some little tarts, some vol au vents for the buffet later. Anyone cooking something lovely I can shamelessly copy?

Polish Christmas Eve dinner for 8 adults and 4 kids Smile

I've just finished making 80 tiny tortellini-style mushroom and sauerkraut dumplings to go in my beetroot soup. In a minute I'll be preparing roast cod with wild rice, fennel and carrots.

Already got the first course ready which is smoked salmon with rye bread and caviar, and pickled herring with apple; and also the dessert which is poppyseed cookies, honey cake and dried fruit compote.

Going to in-laws' tomorrow for English-style Christmas day, so nothing to get ready for then apart from bringing wine and fizz Smile

I've made a winter salad for tonight. We'll be having a family dinner and the main course is deer.
I've also made pigs in blankets (with posh sausages), a croissant and berry bake for breakfast tomorrow and some (sweet) potato and parmesan stacks to take to my friend's pot luck on the 26th.
I've also made some cranberry sauce...

Winter salad sounds nice. Would you mind sharing the recipe, please?

I try to make a mixture of the two but didn't add bacon, as suggested in the second recipe, because my DSis is vegetarian.
They are nothing amazing but I quite like the dressing in the second recipe and it's just something fresh to have with the meat.

A Winter Salad - Spinach, Apple, Gorgonzola & Candied Walnuts

A flavour packed Winter salad made with baby spinach, red apple, creamy Gorgonzola cheese and candied walnuts. So simple and absolutely delicious.

I made Eve’s pudding (one of the few things I can bake) and I’m cooking the turkey today (I always do it early in case I screw it up and need to plan something else!)

My dh bought me a new Kenwood (very naughty, was a bit cross but he just got paid from a big project) as he hadn't got around to fixing my old orange 70s one, so I have finally been able to start making a gluten free panettone for my dd.
I have also made the dough for a loaf of bread.
I will then make some gluten free lady's fingers to make a trifle later.

Just Yule log. Doesn’t feel v festive!!

Me & DS did already do 2 different types of biscuits but that’s nothing out of the ordinary either, boo!

Edited

Scratch that, DD not napping so won’t happen by the looks of it! Ugh was meant to have some alone time.

Thank you so much for the inspiration; made some lovely bits for tonight I wouldn't have made if it wasn't for you all :) Pesto/cheese pinwheels and sticky toffee muffins going down a treat :D
