What would you ask Santa for as an adult?

This year has been a bit of a one for me and I realised that my parents who I adore will not be here forever - I mean I knew that in a hypothetical way, but this year it feels real for the first time. I’m both sad and scared and worried by this prospect. If I could ask want for anything it would be to take this realisation away and just return me to my state of blissful ignorance. So lovely people what would you ask Santa for this year ?

Time. And less procrastination.

These may be related. Grin

To feel better in time for Christmas :( I've had the worst lurgy in the world and so have DC. Il never take good health for granted again.

Money to buy new teeth.

Unfortunately we weren’t blessed with enough money for tooth brushes/paste growing up so now I’m sitting here wondering if I can pull my tooth out as I can’t afford to have yet another one removed.

thecoffeeowl · 22/12/2024 20:49

Damn. I thought this was going to be more like if you had a squillion pounds what would you ask Santa for and I was ready to talk Van Cleef & Arpels and trying some Chateau Petrus oh and another cat but yes…totally… peace on earth and all that.

My mortgage paid off

elliejjtiny · 22/12/2024 20:50

A holiday for me dh and the dc that we will all enjoy, not been since 2013 and that was a same stress but in a different place holiday.

MaggieFS · 22/12/2024 20:50

Yep, if we're going really deep then I'd love my Dad back.

Probably equally unrealistic are kids that just go to bed when asked, go to sleep on their own, and sleep through the night.

And people who could babysit overnight to DH and I could escape.

And kids that don't argue all of the time.

Honestly, I'm very fortunate, and I don't need "things" but I'm run ragged, worn out and exhausted. Sorry it's not a very exciting list, but I crave these more than anything else!

CatamaranViper · 22/12/2024 20:51

For time to slow down. I want a year to feel like it did when I was a kid. I want to freeze my life and family. Keep DS little and full of magic, keep my parents healthy and happy, keep my niece and nephew as toddlers. Just slow down!

CatamaranViper · 22/12/2024 20:51

And a new iPad since the cat smashed my old one...

AppleTreeSeed · 22/12/2024 20:52

So many life problems that I would like fixed. I can't even bring myself to list them.

How did life get so terrible? It used to just be middlingly rubbish.

Hey. No judgement here if you want to ask Santa for a lifetime supply of kippers you go for it.

For 2020 not to have happened the way that it did; I was made redundant from a job I enjoyed, and there has been a seriously wild butterfly effect ever since.

I've never ever been uncomplicatedly happy since 2019.

ColinOfficeTrolley · 22/12/2024 20:56

Wealthy retirement at 55

SpunkyKoala · 22/12/2024 20:57

@ColinOfficeTrolley I could get onboard with that!

Time, I think. Time to relax, Time to spend on hobbies but most of all Time to be able to go and visit family and friends.

Ooh. Kids that do as they're asked the first time. That would be <chef's kiss>.

Time.... to quote keywest, a band in Ireland, it's more precious than gold.... Love this song and time and hold health is the most amazing gift you ever get given...

AppleTreeSeed · 22/12/2024 21:00

I think I would like a vitamin and mineral supplement that I could eat that wouldn't give me wild side effects, and I think for my son I would like that, and also a kind of pizza that he could eat without an intolerance reaction.

toycat · 22/12/2024 21:05

Reliable babysitting

InvisibleDragon · 22/12/2024 21:06

I've had 2 miscarriages this year, so I'd be asking for a successful pregnancy and a sibling for my little boy.

IAKnowyou · 22/12/2024 21:08

If I'm deep about it, I'd really quite like my grandad back, we lost him yesterday morning.
It's going to be a tough Christmas I feel.

Gingerbreadloony · 22/12/2024 21:12

A nonna. My grandparents all passed before I was 5, my mother is a toxic narcissist so not much maternal love going on. I always felt like a nonna would have helped massively and even now at 52 I’d still love one.

A house, a digital torque wrench and a pony

Letterasaurus · 22/12/2024 21:19

I would like to spend a day with my Mum, Nana, Grandad and friend Jane. I miss them so very much .

MadmansLibrary · 22/12/2024 21:22

A house for DD and I. And someone to hug at the end of a long day.
