To ask what gift card to give a 12 year old boy. Surely there's one that's suitable and doesn't rely upon a love of TKMaxx and M&S

Just that. It shouldn't seem like an impossible task!

Cash! Otherwise
-Maplin
-Argos
-Hobbycraft
-Odeon or local cinema

NoEscapingMe · 19/12/2024 18:33

I'd just give the cash OP.

Arlanymor · 19/12/2024 18:35

Cash! And a book for the personal touch. But cash is what he wants I would surmise otherwise you’d know what to buy him!

Sprig1 · 19/12/2024 18:41

How much? My son would love a Greggs voucher but that wouldn't be appropriate for a large amount.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 19/12/2024 18:44

My 12 year old ds would be thrilled with a book token. National. Books tokens not Waterstones so he could spend in our local independent.

Otherwise just got with Amazon or something.

berrypop · 19/12/2024 18:45

Footasylum. That's where I was sent for my fashionable 14yo dn's voucher this year

So true...my 12yr old son's favourite gift last year was a £5 greggs voucher so I'm getting a tenner this year!

ChewieChewieChewie · 19/12/2024 18:46

National Book Token? Amazon?

WheresMyChunkz · 19/12/2024 18:47

Cash is so impersonal and shows zero effort or thought of what the person likes. Vouchers for a shop / website the use, gaming system or activity they enjoy at least shows you have given them some thought as an individual.

Needmorelego · 19/12/2024 18:48

Depends on what he is into but anything like -
Sports Direct or JD Sports
Game
HMV
Book Token/Waterstones
Amazon
Smyths Toys
Greggs

I don't think it's impersonal at all - I'd much rather get cash. No expiry date, and no pressure to get something you don't actually want just because you have a voucher to spend from Auntie X.

A 12 year old might not think / see it that way. My young relatives prefer cash so they can choose where to spend it.

Alwaystired23 · 19/12/2024 18:50

My ds aged 11 and 12, love cinema voucher, amazon voucher, I've got them a Greggs voucher this year. They are also having STEAM vouchers for PC gaming.

Heatherbell1978 · 19/12/2024 18:52

Why are M&S and TK Maxx your only options? There's racks bursting with voucher cards at my local supermarkets.

grumpyoldeyeore · 19/12/2024 18:53

Steam or Amazon

MintTwirl · 19/12/2024 18:53

My two in this age category would like a book voucher or Greggs

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 19/12/2024 18:54

I don't understand what the problem is, you must know that shops other than M&S and TKMaxx sell vouchers. Just pick a shop that sells things you think the boy would like - Waterstones, Argos, JD - or go for Amazon if you're not sure what he likes.

Hazey19 · 19/12/2024 18:54

JD sports

Applepoop · 19/12/2024 18:54

Cash

or Amazon

crazyunicornlady73 · 19/12/2024 18:55

Why not just cash?
That can be spent anywhere!

Cyclistmumgrandma · 19/12/2024 19:03

Cash. Won't go out of date or be useless if a retailer goes bankrupt....

Good point about retailers going bankrupt. I remember threads on here when Debenhams went under and everyone was furious that they had vouchers etc. that were now totally useless.

louderthan · 19/12/2024 22:57

Nando's!

Dollydoo15 · 19/12/2024 23:01

V bucks
Xbox/playstation/ switch
sports direct

TheGoogleMum · 19/12/2024 23:21

My nephew is younger but into football and gaming. Sports direct or PlayStation voucher is what he wants
