Mark Wahlberg is no.1 male for me - cannot stand him.

Keanu on the other hand - how DARE you!!!

Andy McDowell I will say for female - she is pretty bad in 4 weddings but I don’t dislike her and she’s very beautiful.

westisbest1982 · 14/12/2024 21:01

I think Tom Hanks has done some fab performances in films that are sadly underseen compared to Philadelphia, Big and a few others - Punchline, Road to Perdition and Splash.

Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, he was wonderful as the Sheriff of Nottingham, even though he wanted to cancel Christmas!

Robin Hood was a diabolical film and everyone in it needs to be cancelled 😜

Liam Neeson. Schindler's List must have been one off. Pretty much every other film he's been in in the last 15 years is the same old shit formula, boring revenge film for which he's about 30 years too old for.

Edited

Yes and I love it!!!
especially The Ice road, Not meant to be funny but I laughed so much,

Last seen looking almost unrecognisable and doing online bingo adverts.

Agreed she’s appalling.

Nic Cage i really struggle with. He comes across really wooden.

I recently watched a film with him in and thought he was awful and couldn’t see why he had ever made it. I then looked him up on Wikipedia and his actual name is not Cage, it’s Coppola. So that explained it.

I liked Daniel Radcliffe villain turn in The Lost city.

Adam Sandler, Emma Watson - I don't think I've liked anything they've done.

Andie MacDowell an odd one because I like many of the things she in but think her a poor actor - though seen commentary/reports that she was good at making her co-star look much better than other actress managed so maybe that why she was popular.

Pierce Brosnan odd as well - saw a director commentary where he sort of said he was a lazy actor put him next to good actors and he'd upped his game. So he crap in some thing and good in others.

The Rock, Vin Diesel more movie start than actor - Ryan Reynolds is mostly same act - but then he'll do a film where he actually acts. Hugh Grant was sort of similar mostly playing same role for years - with odd film he act in but recently he doing more parts and showing how good he is.

I like Keanu Reeves wouldn't say his range is huge but in the right film he's perfect - one of my favorite films is Constantine.

VK456 · 14/12/2024 21:04

Bill Nighy is always the same character. Himself.

itsmylife7 · 14/12/2024 20:50

haven't you seen Forest Gump and the streets of Philedelphia (aids related film)

He was amazing.

Oh, yes, I've seen them. Forrest Gump is a dreadful film IMO. Tom Hanks is particularly dreadful. He's no better in Philadelphia.

Again, I know this is a minority opinion. 😅

Flowers??? What a pile of ridiculous nonsense that was 😅

FAO @Hippobot

I loved Flowers. Not everyone likes weird but some of us do, and OC was great.

She was fantastic in Fleabag too.

Nick Cage is a Legend! Have you never seen Con Air?

”Put the bunny back in the box!”

I even love his crap films🤣

And they’re all ungrateful little prigs.

I wonder if that's the reason they seem to be featuring so often?

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 14/12/2024 21:06

Arthur Askey
Norman Wisdom

I think I'm right, because you certainly don't see either on the likes of Celebrity Master Cooking or that Dancing thing these days.

Fortunately.

Russell Brand is quite a bad actor, though, he was a doctor in an Agatha Christie remake, and he was just not very good, there were loads of character actors who would have done that part better.

He was really funny in forgetting Sarah marshall

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 14/12/2024 18:42

David Tennant. If he hadn’t been in Doctor Who, he would be on the tills in Lidl by now.

He only has two expressions and his voice is monotonous; recently he seems to have gone a bit mad, so he has added staring eyes to the repertoire.

He was in the RSC long before Doctor Who and he's perfect in Good Omens

I tried to watch it (again) yesterday- it’s one of the only free Christmassy films on Amazon prime.

Dd and I actually sat with our hands over our eyes intermittently for the first 15 minutes and then gave up. It’s truly dire. Proper sphincter-clenching.

EleanorBettyJackie · 14/12/2024 21:10

Keira Knightly, Parminder Nagra and Archie Panjabi - in fact, anyone involved in Bend It Like Beckham.

Keira should be sponsored by Travis Perkins. Nagra absolutely ruined ER for me. Archie was great for a while in The good Wife (and even won an Emmy), but has played the same character (enigmatic, dead behind the eyes, ventriloquist dummy mouth movements) in everything she's done since.

I agree about Liam Neeson, much as it pains me because I think he ought to be better. I never understand what kind of accent he is meant to be pulling off - Irish via USA? I dunno.

It’s Irish with a US visa 😀

EasternStandard · 14/12/2024 21:12

I agree with pp Love Actually is painful. The script included
