Bloody Christmas Crackers

GlamorousHeifer · 14/12/2024 07:21

I am driving myself mad (admittedly a short drive!) over Christmas crackers of all things!
I must have been looking online researching my options for about 8+ hours (in total, not 8 straight hours, I'm not that crazy!) but none of them are quite right.
Must be:
*Plastic free
*Beautiful
*8 pack
*Pre made, not make yourself
*Decent gift (no toe nail clippers or tiny screwdrivers!) Ideally a keepsake.
*Suitable for teen boys and girls
*Not more than £25.
Aibu to believe the crackers of my dreams exist despite an extensive search coming up with nothing?
For those that need to hear it, this is lighthearted, yes I do have plenty of other things to worry about, yes I know the COL has gone up and some people won't be able to celebrate at all etc etc.

Sorry this was in response to @KeziaOAP above

dancinginthekitchen · 15/12/2024 08:39

Have a look at the Little Green Cracker Company, They are all non-plastic and compostable with gifts like packets of wildflower seeds, mini soap or shampoo bars, wax melts, organic tea and coffee bags. I saw them in our local garden centre but they were a bit out of budget for me

Taytocrisps · 15/12/2024 09:09

I see you've settled on some crackers for this year, so I'm just here to recommend that you order ahead for next year. If you've seen some you liked, they may be a lot cheaper in the Christmas/January sales.

I saw some today with a miniature cheese grater. I came close to buying because I really want one but it probably cheaper to just buy a miniature cheese grater.

I have two miniature cheese graters from crackers which are in use every day. They are fantastic. No idea why the big size ones are the norm.

Barbadossunset · 14/12/2024 23:27

@DutifulLark I’ve just googled them - they look great fun.
How rude of your guests not to join in - I hope you haven’t got to have them this year.

Unfortunately I do - so it's £3.99 Lidl crackers with charades in for us this year 🤣

There are some games type crackers such as taskmaster or traitors which could be fun. I’ll see if I can find a link.

OneCoralHare · 15/12/2024 11:46

The website is puzzle post but the taskmaster crackers are currently £18 on amazon

BunnyLake · 15/12/2024 11:59

Even the more expensive crackers are shite. I gave up on them a couple of years ago.

Maray1967 · 15/12/2024 13:15

I do fill your own ones from John Lewis. I add lindors for the kids, and miniatures (favourite alcohol or mini bath stuff etc) for adults. No plastic tat and it’s a bit of fun.

Absolutely perfect! I was just about to sign on the dotted line for the 5K loan but then I noticed they are out of stock!

Wow - I can't believe we have got to 8 pages discussing the merits or lack thereof of Christmas crackers!
Just goes to show you that sometimes it's the little things 😂

Buy the best you can afford, after Christmas, bag a great bargain.

Merula · 15/12/2024 16:27

Another recommendation for the RSPB crackers. I've got the ones with chocolate inside so at least there's no unnecessary plastic waste, and all for a good cause.

workingcream · 15/12/2024 16:46

All I want from a cracker is that it goes bang, has a paper hat and a joke. I genuinely like cracker jokes.
The presents are just landfill tat. I actually wish crackers never had them.

Vitriolinsanity · 15/12/2024 17:01

We have these

https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/315019785

During the games after lunch the loser gets their hat filled with confetti.

If you get a question wrong you have to stick a confetti dot on your face.

Disclaimer: I've got a Miele hoover and it's all gone by morning Grin

Deadbeatex · 15/12/2024 18:04

I see you've already purchased some but I wonder if the teens wouldn't enjoy the Taskmaster crackers?

Cynic17 · 15/12/2024 18:06

Why do you need them, OP? They are completely and utterly pointless.

PhotoFirePoet · 15/12/2024 18:24

We buy ones costing around £6, then buy separate gifts, untie one end, add gifts we chose and retie. Sorted!

PomandersandRedRibbon · 15/12/2024 18:30

@Nomorepants it saw those also
Have you got them OK it all looked too good to be true

Deeperthantheocean · 15/12/2024 18:41

Last year my sister and bil put scratchcards in some normal crackers. Top idea! X

PomandersandRedRibbon · 15/12/2024 18:42

John Lewis winter birds

I thought they may have whistles in them replication winter birds.

No.

DisforDarkChocolate · 15/12/2024 18:45

I can't see you getting that for £25. This year we go musical ones from John Lewis when they were half price

Last year we had Task Master and they were disappointing but others may like them.

Forget gifts, think fun (origami ones went down very well).
